down old dirt roads
driving rusty old jalopies
white with dust and time

grey headed ghosts
turn with a grin
a toothy smile he smiles
at the two of them
he looks straight thru them
as an xray machine

quickly he turns with a jerk and a shout
his pig nose exposes an obnoxious smirk

Sorry to hear of the passing of another fine FReeper. Ironically, I was in Ithaca this past weekend, and drove through Dryden where she lived. One has to wonder as we travel, just how close we come to FReepers we only know online. May she rest in eternal peace.

I wonder that a lot, too. I actually have one of the license tag frames that someone used to sell through here that has my FReeper name on it. I always thought one day someone would tell me they saw it, but nope.

Of course I live in the desert and there aren’t that many towns. Or...people don’t read those things like I do. I get bored at red lights.

I had not engaged with her in a long while, but for a time we had a pretty good rapport. She had a great sense of humor and I liked her very much.

When we talked, she was battling COPD, and even though she felt poorly, she was upbeat. I will miss her optimism.

I have lived in Chico Ca, for 30 years now, and met, and had BBQs with a few, but recently learned there are a few others that are but short driving distance away.

I often tell myself we need to all get together.

My wife and I don’t travel much since her paraplegia stops here from getting around too much now that we are getting older.

So my best friends are now online.

I chatted with her a few times, but not in quite some time.

As time goes by, more and more FRiends I have known through the years here are heading home. She will be missed.
