THE Is had been dotted; the Ts were crossed. The 55 delegates to Americas first and so-far-only constitutional convention had hammered out compromises on the separation of powers, apportionment of seats in the legislature and the future of the slave trade. But on September 15th 1787 George Mason, a plantation owner from Virginia, rose to his feet to object.
Article V of the draft text laid out two paths by which future amendments could be proposed. Congress could either propose them itself, or it could summon a convention of representatives from the states to propose them. Mason warned that if the federal government were to become oppressive, Congress would be unlikely to call a convention to correct matters. To protect the peoples freedom, he argued, convening power should instead be vested in the states. Should two-thirds of their legislatures call for a convention, Congress would have to accede to their demand: a convention they should have.
The constitution was signed two days later, with Article V changed as Mason had suggested. Since then 33 amendments have been proposed, with 27 subsequently ratified, a process which requires approval in three-quarters of the states (see chart 1). Whether the issue was great (abolishing slavery) or small (changing the date of presidential inaugurations), all 33 of the proposals came from Congress. Masons mechanism for change driven by state legislatures has never been used. Even politically informed Americans often have no idea it exists.
That could soon change. In recent years the Balanced Budget Amendment Task Force (BBATF)a shoestring group that received just $43,000 in donations in 2015has been campaigning with great success for such an Article V convention. There are now 27 states in which the legislatures have passed resolutions calling for a convention that would propose a balanced-budget amendment . . .

The Left accomplished its corruption of all that is good, decent, and constitutional these past 104 years without an Article V VCOS.
Please inform me of their plans.
Article V COS supporters are ‘fools or traitors’?
All amendments beyond the 11th should be repealed.
Or not. Theyve been predicting one soon for almost as long as viable solar.
Thanks for the links. Both are excellent reads. We are at a crossroads. With the left declaring war on traditional Constitutional America and I suspect we’ll find out from last night’s Las Vegas shootings, will be another case of a leftist going after traditional Americans.
Even if not, the past congressional shooter, the muslim shooters, Anitfa, BLM, the media sedition, etc, a case could be made, they are at all out war with us.
Unlike 0bama who did many things UN-Constitutional, at least calling for tribunals is in President Trump’s arsenal.

I must admit I was disappointed when President Trump didn’t ‘flood the zone’ with dozens of EOs all at once to reverse the Bamster’s usurpations.
Additionally, martial law along the southern border and currency controls would have worked wonders.
Absolutely. The left will not be reasoned with. Trump needs to start imprisoning as many as possible. The leaders should be subject to firing squads. We need to thorough clean-out of our institutions similar to the one accomplished in Chile during the 70s and 80s. I say go after them wherever they are - academia, entertainment, sports, politics, K-12 education, etc. Put God’s people back in charge.
Please no. We no longer have statesmen of sufficient quality of character for such a convention. Politicians are creatures of the swamp, slithering about to sustain what is good for them, and not the country.
One positive consequence from all that could be the reigning in of the Fedgov.
A government hauling citizens in front of mitary tribunals is reigned in?
States will send delegates with detailed commissions, backed by felony punishment for violation, to a COS. You needn’t worry.
An Article V convention is not a “Constitutional convention.”
It would depend how deep it goes and what it covers. Exposing big government type or even Cloward-Piven type politicians/bureaucrats/crony capitalists, would go a long ways in showing America where our UN-Constitutional government went wrong and then bring up the discussions to correct it.

All sounds great as long as your guy has the whip hand.
I'm pretty sure it would 'cover' different things with President Bernie.
Like I said, what are you waiting for?
Stupid question -cynical.
This is a long-term project for those who care about restoring our Free Constitutional Republic. Maybe you’re not one of those people.
Everyone needs to do what they can but FIRST people have to have the right OBJECTIVE: the restoration of our Free Constitutional Republic.
You sound like one of those cynical sideliners making cat-calls to those fighting for freedom and faith.
Go back to sleep - I don’t think you’ll be one of those the fray.
I just don’t care for loudmouthed virtue-signallers.
I don’t understand how a President Bernie could expose an UN-Constitutional government when he has and would be a part of it. Of course he could abuse military tribunals but that’s a whole different story. I would hope the patriotic American people would not allow that but if we had a President Bernie, all might be lost anyways.
We have the Constitution on our side and a long list of those who are abusing it. There is so much sedition out there and now the left, through ANTIFA and other radical organizations have declared war on traditional America. Not sure we can trust Infowars but they did break today as Alex Jones heard from one of the law enforcement officers at the hotel scene in Las Vegas, he told Alex the room was littered with ANTIFA propaganda. I hope we get corroboration but we have an enemedia that will do its best to hide that if true so that might be difficult.
Trump calling a military tribunal on all these people, including one of the big fish behind much of this, George Soros, would be right and just given the situation going on and the war they declared on traditional America.
CGato
Yup, that’s all America stands for - the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are all about - “virtue signallers”.
Go back to sleep - you’re useless.
What are you doing besides flapping your gums and virtue-signalling?
Why are you posting to me? I try not to talk to FR snipers like you who contribute nothing affirmative but hide and take pot-shots at those that do.
