The NFL has seen major backlash after mass national anthem protests last Sunday. Fans are burning jerseys, sponsors are dropping players, and ratings are down. The protest was sparked by President Trump saying the anthem protesters should be fired. Some entire teams sat out the anthem last Sunday as the protests escalated to new levels.
There have been many responses to the outcry. Many Americans on both sides are angry. Now, one of the NFL's biggest and most well-known sponsors, Anheuser-Busch, has weighed in on the controversy.
In an official statement to IJR, Anheuser-Busch said the company supports free speech:
At Anheuser-Busch we have a long heritage of supporting the institutions and values that have made America so strong. That includes our armed forces and the national anthem as well as diversity, equality and freedom of speech. We proudly employ over 1,100 military veterans and we work every day to create an inclusive environment for all of our employees. Because only together can we achieve our dream of bringing people together for a better world.
We have many long-term sports partnerships, including our NFL sponsorship, and while we may not agree on everything, we still believe in the power of sport to bring people together and overcome their differences.
Thank you.
And I still believe in the power of Santa Claus to bring me an Enzo Ferrari down the chimney.
Yup that’s the form letter response I got. Absolut BS.
Thank you for your email, we always appreciate feedback from our consumers and take your concerns seriously.

IJR is click-bait fake news and are deliberately lying about this.
And, once again, the company conflates Free Speech, with speech while in uniform on the playing field. Company employees of any type do not have the right to say anything they want while on company time. I haven’t seen any major public voice state this clearly.
Best look at the list of other owned names. Appears AB owns the beer industry
Put out a statement, any statement.
Chugging a 6 pack of Bud at 15 was my first drunk...barfed up the whole mess. First and last Buds in my life. Awful horse p*ss.
Hat tip to Asimov:
“That,” replied Hardin, “is the interesting thing. The analysis was the most difficult of the three by all odds. When Holk, after two days of steady work, succeeded in eliminating meaningless statements, vague gibberish, useless qualifications in short, all the goo and dribble he found he had nothing left. Everything canceled out.”
“Lord Dorwin, gentlemen, in five days of discussion didn’t say one damned thing, and said it so you never noticed. There are the assurances you had from your precious Empire.”
If you stand in the middle of the road, you get ruin over. Adios SOBs. you just lost hundreds of millions in revenue.
1/2 hour before kickoff and the stadium is about 1/2 full.
All we need now is a commercial with the Clydesdales kneeling.
I'll miss Whitbread, but there are about 10 million others to distract me from any passing sorrow.
My sentiments about this echo those of at least the first 12 respondents to your post. It’s a weaselly statement meant to make us all feel good about those who publicly denigrate our nation’s heritage.
Well bye, bud.
Its NOT “Controversial” to kneel during the National Anthem..its TREASONOUS PERIOD..they are COWARDS, Anti American jackasses
It wasn’t a press release. It was AB responding to a inquiry from the Independent Journal Review. It’s the same form letter you’d get if you wrote to them complaining.
An old-timer exec friend once called these “bed bug letters.”
“Hey, boss. We got another letter complaining about bed bugs.”
“OK, Joe. Send them Bed Bug Letter #5.”
Please feel free to re-post this on any other nfl threads...
It was once explained to me that the most effective way to get somebody in a corporate executive positions attention is to send snail mail. Send your message right to the top - President, CEO, etc. E-mails just get mass deleted. Phone calls may tie up the phone lines but typically get ignored. Posts on social media sites may do some good as its hard to ignore a 12,000 post thread on a site like nfl Facebook that may ordinarily get a few dozen responses but an actual letter gets noticed because the recipient has to take certain actions.
Lets look at the physical analogy to those 12,000 Facebook posts if they were letters. The mail-room would be swamped with envelopes that cant just be thrown away. All have to be opened and read by humans or else items relevant to the business might get thrown, things like checks and legal papers, etc. It is possible that it will be an executive secretary reading the mail addressed to the corporate Big Kahunas. All this takes time and resources. Likewise, if one were to send their opinions on something that, on first glance looks like a check or a letterhead of a business that doesnt exist (so as not to get in trouble with a legitimate business - have some fun with the fictitious company’s name or just make a letterhead using your own name) the companys operations get further bollixed.
Also, may I suggest that the big data providers are probably watching you. If you use a cable box to watch the nfl or stream to a device it will be noted. It will also be noted if big data sees you streaming Youtube videos during game hours. I would also suggest gathering in public during gametime where it will be noticed that one is not sitting in front of their screen. How about a mass sing-in of the National Anthem on your local public square or even better, in front of the local tv station that is airing the nfl game.
Headline: Militant Normals Hijack Allinsky !
Essentially, they said..... nothing.
