It’s not the Constitution keeping them from being fired, it’s the CBA. This is not proscribed behavior. At least not in the NFL

According to a poster earlier today, you are wrong. The NFL has rules:

The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rulebook. It states:

“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.

“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

If the business is losing enough money, the union will have to negotiate. If the local taxpayers get tired of subsidizing these wealthy players, that might help too.

Notice a very important part of that rule: should.
Compare that to the NBA rule: 2) Players, coaches, and trainers are to stand and line up in a dignified posture along the sidelines or on the foul line during the playing of the National Anthem.

Should is a suggestion. Suggestions can be ignored. And kneelers are on the field. And really in the rulebook all your looking at is yardage, possibly ejections. Firing people needs to be in compliance with the CBA.

Yep, for most people their boss isn’t the government. The government has to guarantee you free speech, but not your private employer. If I was pulling stunts like this my boss would of fired me.

Imagine what would happen if nurses, flight attendants, construction workers, etc. started mouthing off acting up and not doing their jobs while on the clock.

All of the teams have already taken a side on this issue by not hiring Kap???sp????k. They know President Trump is right and have politely said so with their inaction.

Invariably, I am met with "But free speech!" No matter how many times I try to teach Constitution 101, I always end up banging my head against a brick wall.

Customer: I would like a Big Mac please.
Clerk: OK but I like Wendy's much better.

You’ll be on the street quicker than Kaepernick.

Kaepernick was not fired he walked away from a contract on his own.

The NFL is guilty on inconsistent behavior lately. Just recently they would not allow Texas teams to wear a small badge in memory of slain cops on duty. And the NFL would not allow players to wear a pink symbol to support cancer victims.

But disrespecting the one symbol which stands for United States of America, the star spangled banner, is not only allowed, but the head of NFL actually is encouraging it.

I for one, will not watch any NFL games this season.

NFL only for “free speech” that highlights their social justice agenda.

If you support our LEO’s, our military or our country? Nope.

And some people only feel validated if they post the same mindless drivel to every article.

Morons.

Under the salary cap, if an NFL team fired 10 or 12 players, they literally would not be able to field a competitive team for at least two years.
