NBC sports reporter Bob Costas assumed the role of political commentator Monday when he praised Colin Kaepernick and called out President Donald Trump on CNNs New Day.
Its very clear that theres almost no one in the NFL who wants to support or rationalize the tone and content of President Trumps remarks, he said. I hope others follow Kapernicks lead. Not in some of the naive political statements hes occasionally made, but getting involved in the community and actually doing things. Which many NFL players already do, but its just not spotlighted.
Costas said he supported the decision by the Pittsburgh Steelers to stay in the locker room during the national anthem to avoid putting political pressure on their players.
I was okay with it and I think what Mike Tomlin said, the coach of the Steelers made a lot of sense. We dont want our players to have to choose. They may feel one way they may feel another, they may be apolitical. So well stay off, Costas said.

These Leftist fools are out of touch.
“U bum!”
NBC, huh? Gee, no conflict of interest there, eh?
SNORT.
Just another reason to boycott the nfl.
FU Bob Costas.
Who doesn’t get political on CNN? Phew, what a mess this is.
Keep digging, Costas.
The Stealers should have stayed in the locker room...........during the GAME......................
Keep going! You're doing great!
So Costas is OK with Mike Tomlinson criticizing his player Alejandro Villanueva, West Point graduate and former Army Ranger, who had the balls to step out of the tunnel and show his patriotism? Do I have that about right?
Like Colin Kaepernick has done any such thing.
I don't think the guy has even been seen in public since he was cut from the 49ers.
The left is not used to our side fighting back and they’re coming apart at the seams over it.
Costas has always been a pinko cretin.
It’s interesting to think about all the acts of self-expression/free speech the league has flagged, fined and suspended players for over the years. Players get fined for wearing the wrong color shoes.
Why is it OK for players to make a self-expression on the field that is disrespectful the the country? IMO, they were cowards from the outset. Didn’t want to be thought of as racist.
Bob’s reasoning on this issue came up a little short.
Can you imagine the late coach of the Dallas Cowboys Tom Landry allowing this?
He would have said, just like the current Cowboys owner, you stand or there will be no game.
If the NFL would threaten to fire him, then Tom would have walked right off.

I’m left scratching my head wondering how anyone can remain a registered Democrat in this day and age.
I realize there are brain-dead Leftists, but I know there are still folks whose family registered as Democrats decades ago, who are reluctant to change. George Putnam was one of those people. He still advocated for sound Conservative policy. I don’t think you can do that any longer.
When your political party starts backing people who want to destroy your nation, it’s way past time to pull the plug on support.
Democrats, it’s way past time. Do it today.
“I hope others follow Kapernick’s Lead”
This just in....Kapernick is still unemployed. Just saying.
