Nashville police received calls about a shooting at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch just after 11 a.m., officials told Fox News. The church is about 30 minutes southeast of Nashville.
"This is a mass casualty situation. All of the wounded have been transported to area hospitals. The majority are older adults," Nashville Police Department wrote on Twitter.
Joseph Pleasant, a spokesman for the Nashville Fire Department, confirmed at least seven people were shot and taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries were unclear at this time.
The shooter was also shot and taken into custody, the fire department wrote on Twitter.
You know America is toast when we cant evem gono church and be safe.
This nation has truly seen its best days and they are long gone
I can’t speak definitely but this is probably not terrorist related. One source says that there are mental health issues with some family members including possible bi-polar, drugs, and PTSD. I don’t have any direct info that this is the cause of the shooting, but I would think that is much more likely than terrorism.
My church in northern Virginia has had armed security detail and armed undercover protection for years along with armed county officers milling around between helping with traffic control. Sign of the times.
I apologize profusely if I am feeding untrue information, but second hand sources indicate that the shooter may have shot himself. Also, some are saying that there is no known relationship between the shooter and the congregation, so ignore my previous comment. Also, one report (perhaps untrue) is that the shooter may have been wearing a mask and was driving a vehicle from Rutherford County. I wish I had something more definite or could confirm even these, but that’s all that I have, which may or may not be true.

Yet again, a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun.
My church has armed security on Sunday mornings, but if it didn't, I'd strongly consider carrying.
Thanks.
“The gunman, said to be in his 20s, was taken to the hospital and is under police surveillance. He is expected to survive. “
Good, he can be tried, convicted and “punished”.
If it isn’t a black church, the media, the elitists/wealthy and half of America won’t give a rat’s ass.
“The church is led by Joey Spann. According to a former pastor at the church, Spann and his wife were among the injured.”

Fox identifying the perp as a black dude wearing a ski-mask. That doesn't sound like a mental breakdown or PTSD situation to me. I don't doubt he's done drugs or is basically retarded though.
It appears to be a multi-racial church
Yep. I updated in post #6.

Smells like Terror to me!
