NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fired back at President Trump on Saturday for encouraging league owners to remove players who take a knee during the national anthem, saying Trump’s “divisive comments” show “an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL.”

“The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture,” Goodell said in a statement. “There is no better example than the amazing response from our clubs and players to the terrible natural disasters we've experienced over the last month.”

“Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.”

Surely this is satire.

The most divisive person in NFL football is the Goodell guy who thinks his players disrespecting patriotic Americans is a great idea.

Trump called them out for it.

They disrespect the flag and Trump is criticized for pointing it out. Telling the truth is now a revolutionary act.

Don’t worry. Soon there won’t be an NFL.

"The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture," Goodell said in a statement.

Right. That's exactly what President Trump said. You call this "a sense of unity" here?

Lawyers will eventually kill off the NFL and not a minute too soon why funnel money to people who hate America.

Respect for a game?

The NFL is a business. It is not in a business’s best interest to allow employees to disrespect those who protect and serve.

Is this parody?

DJT has planted the Deplorable flag squarely in front of the anger former NFL fans feel. Goodell’s reply shows why the league is doomed. I bet at least one franchise will be up for sale post season.

Trump just set up a big pit for the NFL, and Goodell just jumped in with two feet.
