Hillary Clinton 3.0 isn’t helping the Democrats move on

I thought I would avoid having anything to say about Hillary Clinton’s latest book. I thought the book, “What Happened,” was meant to be some sort of cathartic Hillary Clinton 3.0 end of the story. I thought it would be accompanied by a graceful farewell tour. I forgot: The Clintons don’t do graceful, and they certainly don’t do farewells. Instead, Clinton is thrashing around in front of the faithful, having pity parties and making news that has caught the attention of Republicans everywhere.

Incredibly, Clinton herself declares that she is anything but done. She isn’t on a farewell tour or even saying that the election is over.

Anyway, with the election loss, a current 30 percent favorability rating keeping her from being marketable to a broader audience, and former president Barack Obama now crowding her out of the high-dollar Wall Street speaking circuit, Clinton can’t stray too far from her most committed and most bitter supporters. These people are willing to pay a couple of thousand dollars to be in her presence, their safe space, to escape reality for a little while. The whole spectacle is contributing to the inability of Democrats to take advantage of Trump’s discord and the Republicans’ intermural gridlock. Clinton craves the attention and the money, and she has no interest in walking away from the game, especially while her supporters still seek her confirmation of the Trump resistance. I guess it’s working for everyone, including Republicans.

The problem for Hillary is that the 700+ FBI files were of people active in politics as of 1992. Most of the Republicans of importance now were not in politics yet in 1992. Of course Comey may have provided her with more recent files.

Her utter lack of self-awareness is typical of the age we live in. So many people are divorced from reality these days. Narcissism is gaining ground in the culture at a rapid rate & it works its way down from the elite classes to the general public from what I can see. Our political class by & large have a very limited grasp of reality. You started to see this behavior set in with the advent of the JFK administration. President Kennedy seems normal compared to the narcissistic administrations of Clinton & Clinton. But the rot has been building up for a long time.

Not Alf Landon, Harold Stassen, “Childe Harold”, of the 1940’s and 1950’s. He ran for President 9 times, 1948, 1952, 1956, 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976 and 1988, with the closest approach probably in 1948, in a three-way race with Robert Taft and Thomas Dewey.

Mostly he acted as a spoiler for a more qualified candidate, and rarely brought much of anything to the race.
