Not Alf Landon, Harold Stassen, “Childe Harold”, of the 1940’s and 1950’s. He ran for President 9 times, 1948, 1952, 1956, 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976 and 1988, with the closest approach probably in 1948, in a three-way race with Robert Taft and Thomas Dewey.

Mostly he acted as a spoiler for a more qualified candidate, and rarely brought much of anything to the race.

Harold Stassen became a joke to everyone but himself quickly — a fate I will hope for with Hillary.
