CBS News: Manafort wiretaps may have picked up conversations with Trump
Legal Insurrection ^ | 09/20/17 | William Jacobson

Posted on 09/20/2017 10:21:59 AM PDT by Behind Liberal Lines

According to CBS, conversations between Manafort and Trump may have been scooped up in the surveillance:

Long before the special counsel began investigating Russian meddling in the U.S. election — and whether anyone in the Trump campaign was involved — Paul Manafort was the target of an FBI investigation. It included electronic surveillance of the one-time Trump campaign chairman....the surveillance on Manafort occurred during the 2016 presidential campaign.

According to a former U.S. official, the intercepts picked up conversations between Manafort and Russian individuals about the campaign. The intercepts potentially include conversations between Manafort and President Trump....

If the Manafort surveillance, including during the campaign and transition, picked up conversations with Trump and other campaign members, that would lend more credence to Trump’s claim that he was wiretapped....

The media, of course, focuses on the precise wording of the Trump tweet in which the claim was made, but...The issue is not the wording of Trump’s tweets, but what the FBI and intelligence community did to surveil Manafort and others involved in the campaign and transition.

An egregious abuse of government power for partisan political purposes

Obama should be in Pelican Bay for this.

I’m sure the wiretaps on Trump picked them up too.

However if you call a Russian speaker in Brighton Beach the FBI will be listening, but it will be the Organized Crime Task Force.

What is a greater danger to the Republic?

Sleezy business deals or a corrupt, megalomaniacal Beria Clone using the apparatus of the state to investigate citizens until he finds something to threaten them with in return for their cooperation???

Mueller is a rogue attorney and a political criminal who belongs in a prison cell next to Hillary and Obama. And Sessions should be sharing that cell with them.

Translation: Trump was 100% right when he said he was “wiretapped.”

FISA judges, crooked or not, routinely rubber stamp any federal government request for a wiretap. I suspect the judges are less crooked and more overly trusting.

If true, then they are not performing their duty and are therefore, by definition, crooked.

That being said, there is no constitutional basis for a FISA system in the first place.

“campaign espionage”

Excellent description. I was surprised yesterday how subdued Levin was last night. First time I have listened to him in years.

"May have"?

"According to a former U.S. official"?

"The intercepts potentially include"?

"If the Manafort surveillance...picked up conversations with Trump"?

Manafort’s deals are not ‘sleezy’. They are conducted every day via international banks.

The fact that a lot of international business persons are ‘sleezy’ does not make their trade sleezy. International law firms are utilized and lawyers draw up the contracts.

For example, the head of the Sinaloa mafia family looks like a respectful banker as do the heads of most of the narco families in Mexico City. They own hotels, resorts, and they trade in oil. They are sleezy but they don’t look sleezy.

If an American is buying oil from Mexico, chances are the first meetings of the principals will include a well-dressed murderer and extortionist, only the American won’t know this background unless the intel is briefed.

Same thing in Syria, Qatar, Iraq, etc.

Manafort is a good guy that trades in commodities that are sometimes controlled by bad guys. It’s not his place to demand clean trading partners unless the State Dept prohibits the trade based on sanctions or terrorism ties, etc.

Manafort is sophisticated enough to use lawyers to know who and who not to trade with.

The reason he was harassed is because his lawyer told Creep Mueller that their interrogatories were too broad and not specific enough. In other words, no fishing expeditions allowed.

So Mueller had his grand jury indict a Manafort ham sandwich and then launched a terror strike into Manafort’s DC home.

If Trump fires Mueller, he will be accused of obstructing justice. We can thank Sessions for that.

So you believe Trump was lying when he said he was wiretapped?

Nothing wrong with that unless it’s McCabe FBI and not Field FBI.

There are many Russian-speaking persons in Manhattan and there are many Russian-speaking business persons in business internationally. Whether they are linked to Moscow intelligence or not would not be known because they would not say if they were. They sell oil, they sell ores no different than so many other persons operating businesses selling internationally. It is not illegal to talk to them about buying their oil or iron ore or used tires, etc.

What is not being reported is the fact that manaford’s russian connection waz actully with podesta consulting.

So there should be wire tap recordings on john & tony podesta, hildabeast, obammy, putin, uranium one out there too

And Uranium One is related to the attack on the Bundy’s via Harry Reid and his sons.

It’s not being reported because most of the national corporate news media is captured, bought and paid for.

Good news is that the corporate deep state dipsh*ts are not in control of social media yet and Americans are on to them.

No. Levin was basically the one who did the research and came out with it first.

And won't it be interesting if they try to claim that the government typically does not wiretap Russians working with Podesta Consulting? You know, because conversations about uranium transfers are boring, and the government wouldn't have any interest in that stuff.

HOWEVER, when Russians working with Podesta Consulting start talking about hotels and the hospitality industry, well, you know the FBI is all over that stuff! Of course there were wiretaps in place for that!!
