The 'slowdown' in global warming is over, the Met Office has said.
While the world remained at near-record levels of warmth in the early 2000s, analysis of rolling 15-year trends shows that the rate of warming slowed between 1999 and 2014, the experts confirmed.
But a change in the natural pattern of warm and cool phases in Pacific Ocean surface temperatures, which have an impact on global temperatures, has brought the slowdown to an end.

Chicago has been experiencing global warming for 10,000 years and nobody has complained except for the wooly mammoths.
There is certainly a human contribution to climate change but I've yet to see convincing evidence that it is in any way significant from people who do not have an anti-capitalist agenda.
If you are looking for the real cause of climate change I suggest you wear your eclipse glasses.
I forgot to mention one more thing in my Comment #18.
For the last three years, the continent of Africa has had record heat.
Just one problem...
There are very few certified weather stations in Africa!
Almost all the temperature readings from Africa are based on mathematical models.
Looking at what has been said for the past 20 years, the experts have said global warming is increasing, decreasing, accelerating, decelerating, stable, and unstable all at the same time. These same experts can’t all agree on what is happening or explain it, but the science is settled or else.
Unicorns are starting to breed at a faster rate too... Send cash - the world is ending....
Re: “Chicago has been experiencing global warming for 10,000 years...”
I live in Seattle.
Whenever I find myself in a global warming argument here, I point out that, 12,000 years ago, we would have been having this discussion under one mile of solid ice!
Humans tend to do better in warmer climates than colder.
“analysis of rolling 15-year trends shows that the rate of warming slowed between 1999 and 2014, the experts confirmed.”
They admit this in 2017? When will they admit that today’s article is bunk? Perhaps they will see clearly in 2020.
So the same people who couldn’t predict the present slowdown in warming are now predicting the end of that slowdown? How convenient.
Uh Oh. Al Gore to announce the snowcap on Kilimanjaro to be gone by 2027 in 3....2....1....
On both peaks?
You said: “Pointing out that it has nothing to do with human caused inputs.”
Yes, after a very quite period of Sunspot activity, we are beginning to see the sun pick up. Along with it we are having hurricanes again. It is all a natural process that has ZERO to do with man.
What was that leapord doing up there any way?
Was it to hot down below?
Slowdown or showdown ?
Yeah, but what about the O-zone hole? Maybe the cooler air is escaping from it?
Actually the global mean did not rise at all for 17 years.
... the values in 2015 and 2016 broke records and passed 1C above pre-industrial levels.
So then the temps in 2015 and 2016 rise, but they don't mention the natural cause, the El Nino.
So far 2017 has also exceeded the 1C threshold but the Met Office is not forecasting it will be another record-breaking year because it has not been influenced by the El Nino Pacific weather phenomenon which pushes up temperatures.
And now in 2017 when temps are cooling off, they mention that it's because there is no longer an El Nino.
This article is nonsense.
Now the thread is complete. Well done to you both.
