"Hes a politician, okay, not a general. I dont see a uniform. Hes a politician who works for Donald Trump, said Gutiérrez, according to The Washington Post .
Kelly and Gutierrez have been trading barbs since last week, when Gutierrez called the former four-star Marine general "a disgrace to the uniform he used to wear."
Gutierrez took issue over the White House's announcement that it would end DACA, an Obama-era program that gave work permits and deferral from deportation to nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children.
As secretary of Homeland Security earlier this year, Kelly repeatedly pledged sympathy toward DACA recipients and told members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus he was their best ally in the Trump administration.
Still, Gutierrez and other critics have lashed out after the administration announced last week that it would phase out DACA.
Kelly, who has maintained that Congress should legislate a solution for DACA recipients, shot back Monday in an email to Fox News.
As far as the congressman and other irresponsible members of Congress are concerned, they have the luxury of saying what they want as they do nothing and have almost no responsibility, Kelly said. I begged and pleaded with them. They did exactly nothing.
The administration's plan to wind down DACA after six months has put pressure on Congress to take action to protect the affected immigrants.
But Congress has yet to coalesce around a proposal for so-called Dreamers the thousands of DACA recipients and other undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children.
Gutierrez said Friday he was building a coalition of Democrats who would refuse to vote on budget and debt ceiling deals in December unless a solution for Dreamers were passed by then.
Kelly took credit Monday for the six-month reprieve, saying the program's shaky legal footing was responsible for ending it.
Trump didn't end DACA, the law did. That said, I worked and succeeded to give the Congress another six months to do something, Kelly said in his email to Fox News.
Gutierrez deflected Kelly's defense Monday, saying he understands why his criticism of the well-respected Marine general-cum-politician rubbed some the wrong way.
"What could be more mean and more vicious than to say youve got six months to pack up your bag and to leave the United States of America? said Gutiérrez.
I prefer the more personal method: hand to hand combat.
Be great if he and Trump decided to take out Congress using the military.
Anything less is a waste of time.
How many divisions do the “Progressives” have?
Seems to me that all that’s required is the US Military in response to the illegal coup in progress by the WASHINGTONIANS is to institute a provisional military government for 6 months, then new elections for all congressional seats, incumbents need not apply.
Only tax paying citizens and veterans are enfranchised in the new Republic.
All amendments other than the original bill of rights are repealed.
“Dueling” legalized within the Washington DC limits.
Problem solved.
Communists out.
Great view of NYC. Those were well known dueling grounds for decades by the time Hamilton and Burr were there.
It’s a useful tradition that we should have kept, much like the public hanging.
Six feet ought to do it...
“Sheesh...Ive seen some gerrymandered districts but that takes the cake.”
I believe it’s gutierrezmandered en español.
It sure is!
These soft adults with their feelings on their sleeves, would never have made it 50 years ago when adulthood meant you took on the responsibility of life as it was handed to you .. and no complaints... just work harder and longer... not expecting anything to be handed to you without working for it.
The complaints and ‘hurt feelings’ today make my skin crawl!
This Puerto Rican (he is not of Mexican srock) gamg member organized the disturbances and disruptions for the Chicago circle Campus Trump Rally which made headlines that everybody seems to have forgotten. Just like his membership to the FLAN a Puerto RIcan terroist group which not only was implicated in a bombing of a historic NYC tavern frequented G Washington but also a (shoot em up)n attack on congree (House) while in session during Truman’s time.
His Illinois congressuinal district is so designesd to take in everywhere there are “hispanbic” names. What it does though is force you to go to two or three congress members if you live in those areas which are contiguous Chicago neighborhoods when they may need a specific grant Like even fixing a street.
Gutierrez’s Tax Bill Proves That Miracles Still Do Happen
http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1998-08-02/news/9808020106_1_property-tax-tax-man-gutierrez-family
Gutierrez resides in a gracious home worth about $340,000. But last year he paid only $274.42 for his 1996 property taxes—up a whopping 10 bucks from the year before.
His next-door neighbor, with an almost-identical home, constructed by the same builder, paid more than $5,000 in property taxes.
But that’s only half of the miracle.
Do you want the other half?
According to Cook County property tax records, Gutierrez’s home, with its red brick facing, wrought-iron balcony and big garage, doesn’t exist. The home, completed in 1995, is not there.
Instead, according to records, the property is a vacant lot. This year, the property was re-assessed by the Cook County assessor’s office, and they still couldn’t find the congressman’s house.
You might find this hard to comprehend, but he was extremely angry that I visited his neighborhood to find the vacant lot, and that I talked to his neighbors about his paltry property tax bill.
“You’ve come to my neighbors and you’ve come and invaded my neighborhood and my neighbors!” said Gutierrez, known as Little Louie in political circles. “And the sanctity of my home! Where my children play! Where my wife and I, and I . . . is there nothing sacrosanct, John?!”
You should have heard him. He sounded almost exactly like Michael Corleone in “The Godfather II,” when Corleone gets upset at Frankie Five Angels.
The neighbors didn’t use words like sacrosanct. They used short punchy words. Some you can’t reproduce in a family newspaper. “I’d like to pinch his head off,” said one neighbor who pays thousands and thousands of dollars each year. “That’s what I’d like to do. Pinch him like a bug.”
Since 1995, Gutierrez has been receiving the ridiculously low property tax bills sent to his home twice a year at 2132 W. Cortland St.
He said he noticed them. He read them. And he said he didn’t think there was anything wrong...
Well said...50 or more years ago you did what you had to do within the law to better yourself and provide for your family.
For an honest hard working person there wasn’t time for complaints and ‘hurt feelings,’ you ignored it.
Why does that not surprise me?
Louie LaRaza is as corrupt as they come and I support his neighbors that are carrying his load.
Gutierrez is a loathsome piece of sh*t.
The true cowards are those yellow bas tards who refuse to fight for our country but want to claim all the freedoms that others have earned and kept secure for them.
If I remember right this puke has never, ever, worn a uniform in our armed services.
24 year retired ARMY here. AND I’m damn proud of it too....
:)
Open borders Gutiérrez is a disgrace, particularly for someone born in the United States.
Did you have a son killed in combat, the ultimate sacrifice for your country Lugy? No, I didn’t think so.So shut your little pie hole.
Bring back duels , of honor....
