Seattle Mayor Ed Murray resigned Tuesday, just hours after new allegations that he had sexually abused a younger cousin decades ago in New York.
Murray, a former Democratic state legislator elected mayor in 2013, said in a statement he is resigning effective 5 p.m. Wednesday.
“While the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our City government to conduct the public’s business,” Murray said in a statement, adding he was proud of his accomplishments while in office.
The mayor stayed in his office Tuesday and didn’t address his staff at large before his resignation announcement, according to a source. Pizza was seen being delivered to his staff on the seventh floor of City Hall.

There’s nothing to celebrate here. I hope he’s guilty in the sense that no man should be falsely accused of something like that. But only he and the girl and God knows the truth. Besides, it’s a liberal city so he’ll be replaced by someone just like him.

Would you resign if it were not true? Has any other Democrat recently resigned even under indisputable evidence of corruption? I can only think he at least has the dignity to leave office rather that further sully it.

This seems to follow the standard pattern, in which an adult homosexual man targets 12-16 year old boys.

Lucky he wasn’t a priest. He would have taken the boys choir and the altar boys. He would have been named a bishop. But then, he was only elected mayor.

I’m just shocked that his party is mentioned in the second paragraph. Shocked. In all seriousness.
The story refers to five males who have made accusations against him.

The question? How many credible accusations of pedophilia are required before a Democrat politician is disavowed by his party and is forced to resign in disgrace?
It’s a male, the fifth male accuser to step forward.
If this clown was a Republican, we would have had 24 hr news coverage when the 4 black victims accused him. Seattle is unbelieveable.
So true could not find this story on any of the left wing cable networks this evening. Such a double standard !
