Modern Conservatism is an Utter Failure
The Daily Caller ^ | 9/12/2017 | John Conlin

It is time to admit it; modern conservatism is almost a complete and utter failure.

Today’s conservative movement seems to employ a lot of folks in pretty cushy jobs, prints some magazines, hosts some websites, publishes various books, and puts on conferences until the cows come home – for those who don’t know, conferences and seminars can be big time money makers. Sadly, its primary purpose seems to have become a self-propagating jobs program for those lucky, skilled, or connected enough to rise to the top.

lot of folks in pretty cushy jobs,....

Cushy Jobs? Think congress, senate and people like Killery, John Hanoi kerry and such. Conservative movement has been hijacked. Think silent majority

MOdern conservatism (more the movement) is a joke because THIS is what too many people were fixated on in the last election:

Trump bungles Bible reference at Liberty University

http://freerepublic.com/focus/news/3385224/posts?q=1&;page=1

Not ideas, not strategy, not beating the other side so they can at least do less damage....just how well you spout off a Bible verse.

On top of that, so many on the right vote based on stupid optics like McCain wearing a veteran’s cap, Lindsey Graham speaking with a southern drawl, or Mitch or Rick Perry holding up a gun in a photo.

Not to mention all of the old people that stupidly send their money to any group that has the word “patriot’s”, “liberty”, “freedom”, or “constitution” in the name below their letterhead, thinking that those people do anything other than generate more junk mail.

The part of conservatism that fails and will always fail is the political aspect.

The reality-based aspect of conservatism is what will always succeed.

President Trump is a modern conservative. You don’t have to be doctrinaire to be conservative. You only have to know that sh*t costs money. He has governed more conservatively than either Bush.

Modern conservatism is RINO progressivism.

It will continue to be a failure until the Broadcasting systems of this nation are seized from the Liberals who now control them.

Here in Mesa County (CO) we occasionally fantasize about having some sort of local "non-progressive" news medium that would be an alternative to the local paper and the mostly useless local TV stations. One guy has even bought and reserved a couple of suitable internet domain names for this purpose.

Nothing ever becomes of it because the non-progressives are divided into several camps with different (and sometimes conflicting) aims and that don't have enough in common to hold a movement together.

It is amazing to me that the "other side" has somehow solved this problem. Radical Muslims and radical feminists/gays, white limosine liberals and black supremacists, labor unionists and the cheap labor express—somehow they have learned to march as a family. Sun-Tzu says the army that marches as a family cannot be defeated.

Conservatism is not being served by the "modern" GOPe, what good is any ideology if it disappears once inside the beltway?

Where is the defunding of NPR and PP?

Trump will end up being more conservative than all of the so-called conservatives in DC if he just does the simple things he promised on the campaign trail. And I have far more faith in him than any of the GOPeunuchs.

Most of today's GOP and Conservatism Inc. (talk radio, Fox News) illustrates perfectly what Eric Hoffer said about every great cause beginning as movement, turning into a business, and then degenerating into a racket. We're well into the racket phase. It's mostly about making sure the "right" people (Bushes etc) rise to the top in politics while their well-connected friends get to shill for them on TV and radio.

My hope for this Presidency was that it would shake up the racket, and it has to some degree, but with the departure of people like Steve Bannon from the WH, who knows if that will continue.

Success and effectiveness in attracting viewers would solve the problem. If you make something a magnet for viewers, it will become successful, and then the disparate groups will attach themselves to it like ticks.

Making it entertaining is the key. I notice that (http://ace.mu.nu/)"Ace of Spades HQ" routinely has more commentary than Free Republic. They will have 400 replies in a typical post.

They make an effort to entertain.

"Conservatism" lost it when it ditched Nationalism for Globalism and "Free" trade.

Today's "conservatism" is basically liberalism with slightly lower taxes and some lip service to social issues. On immigration, trade, and foreign policy you'd have a hard time distinguishing Paul Ryan from Hillary Clinton.

That's the strategy of uniparty - pretend to be mortal enemies on an issue or two while walking hand in hand on the fundamentals.

They've solved this problem very simply, they ignore any differences. And since they control the media, no one group or person is ever pressed on its/their contrast with another.

Our Republicans cannot march as a family.
Our servicemen cannot march as a family.
Our Christians cannot march as a family.
Our families cannot march as a family.

The Frankfurt School’s plan succeeded.

What the pseudo-conservative media call conservatism is not Conservatism:

It is Neoconservatism, which is Trotskyism.

Conservatism does work, but the RNC has no intention of governing in a conservative manner, precisely because they know it would work, and as part of the leftist Uniparty, they do not want that.

Yes, it has failed. It is an utter failure. Where it succeeds and will always succeed is on the small scale of independent living.

Even after the socialist collapse of America, it will be those who are conservatives will survive, thrive, and succeed all the while the city socialists and those conservatives trapped in the cities will have a tough, tough time. Many rounded up into slums and eventually shipped off to some detention camp for the good of the whole.

Modern Conservatism can’t succeed, it’s destiny is failure.

I'm a constitutionalist. At least that means something.

It means nothing because the Courts don't even read it any more. The Supremes may read it, but they certainly don't like it except for a sometimes slim majority.

The left has killed us by heading to friendly judges for stupid rulings that may or may not get overturned, even if they are, a lot of damage is done that may never get undone.

All of this silliness ends the moment real hardship arrives. It’s no longer fun to tinker with ancient social structures when failure means certain death. Women’s foolish notions of “compassion” are thrown out the window immediately when faced with annihilation. Hard to make fun of “Dads” on TV when your ass would starve to death without him. Our Nation exists in a nursery with soft pink walls, for now.
