How quickly some of us forget. How arrogant some of us have become.
Those of you old enough to remember the shock and horror of September 11, answer me this: If I had told you that the George W. Bushs anti-terror policies would be so effective that after that terrible day jihadist terrorists would kill only three Americans on U.S. soil for the remainder of his term, would you judge his policies a success, or would you call him an idiot and hold him and his foreign-policy team in complete contempt?
I know my answer. I know the fair answer. In the days and weeks after 9/11, fear gripped America. We knew al-Qaeda possessed an immense safe haven in Afghanistan. We had no idea of what other plots might unfold next. After all, our intelligence agencies had just missed the worst attack on American soil since the British burned Washington, D.C., during the War of 1812. We believed that the 9/11 attacks were the first of a series of assaults to come. That they never came is to the eternal credit of Bush and his team.

No, but he did have the USS New Jersey give them about 300 sixteen inch wake up calls.
Reagan wasn’t an idiot like the Bush family is.
He pounded them and left.
Same with Libya. Gave Khaddaffy a very nasty and comprehensive airstrike. He got the message and was still cooperating with us when the EU and Obama decided to attack him and turn the place over to AL Qeida.
Reagan smart... Bush idiot.
French is a well known trump hater.
nope. told he was too busy elsewhere.
What about the Ft. Hood shooter? Brought into the army under W.?
Bannon is mostly right. George W. just didn’t know when to say no to the globalists military complex and, as far as I know, NEVER vetoed a major spending bill and let the media run all over him.
David French is only slightly right.
And that my FRiends is why there’s only about 1 writer (Andrew McCarthy) left at NR worth reading.
I was supportive of GWB in his military plans too, but I doubt I will ever be in favor of large scale, “boots on the ground” actions ever again, except when the US has absolutely no choice. The reason being, our politicians won’t fight to win, and win quickly. They dither and shilly shally along with half measures for years and years while our people and our allies get killed and maimed, and our money goes down the drain.
Hey! At least we now have the TSA!
Yep. And cost America the lives of nearly 4,500 of our sons and daughters in Iraq, and over 2,300 more in Afghanistan. And for what, exactly, besides the tired line of crap that says "so we don't have to fight the terrorists over here". No mention of those numbers by the RE puke JAG officer, Major David French.
I suspect I know what you're implying but it ain't gonna work. 9/11 occurred less than eight months after Bush took office so if you're gonna cast blame then look to his predecessor.........
There was no "nation building" involved in Iraq. The Iraq war was a success until Obama came into office and withdrew all American support which was contradictory to the President Bush plan...........As far as Afghanistan, I have no comment.
The point of the article is to point out how none were killed by jihadis on President GW Bush’s watch AFTER 9/11. The others to which you refer didn’t happen on Bush’s watch. On that score the author is correct.
No Americans were killed by volcanic eruptions in the U.S. while George W. Bush was president, either. Does that say anything about any decision he made as president?
Never forget that Muslim immigration accelerated rapidly after 9/11 as part of Bush’s neocon plan to democratize the Muslim world. The logic goes something like “if we let Muslims into the USA, they become Americanized and then spread Americanism back to where they came from.”
The logic goes something like if we let Muslims into the USA, they become.......
.................. the Ummah in America.
Their holy book commands that they impose shariah.
Jihad to make the infidel submit is their duty.
Know Islam, No Peace
No Islam, Know Peace.
I agree. I thought that 9/11 would have been enough for our country to come together to win a war, but the Democrats were more interested in beating the feckless Bush and protecting Islam.
Volcanoes didn’t plan and execute the murder of 3000+ Americans in one day now, did they? Obviously you are not a “W” fan, but the fact remains that he did implement programs that prevented any further Muslim extremist massacres on U.S. soil during the remainder of his term.
So why are we going back? Bears repeating get out and stay out.
