I had an inverse version of this twenty years ago. I was a Quark/Photoshop/Illustrator nerd at a think-tank where they were doing finite element analysis of defensive structures at various distances from one-megaton nuclear explosions.

Everybody there had PhDs in math. In the lunch room I yakked baseball each day with one of the guys, and then one day he said, “Where do you think I’m from?” He was dark-skinned, but not Negroid.
