Beginning Jan. 22, 2018, travelers from nine states will no longer be able to travel with only their drivers licenses.
Residents of Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington will have to use alternate ID forms (passport, military ID, or permanent resident card) to pass TSA security checkpointseven for domestic travel.

Jolly decent of 'em. Have we, here, and example of public servants who actually understand the concept of service?
That will drain the pool of persons able to do Federal Jury Duty in those states.
No passport-—no entry to Federal Courthouse.
I love unintended consequences.
Well, interesting tidbit about Caliph-phony-a licenses. On the back in the bottom right corner is the following:
This license is issues as a license to
drive a motor vehicle: it does not
establish eligibility for employment,
voter registration or public benefits.
Sounds like it shouldn't allow you to use it as ID at an airport either. Well, like my nephew says, "TSA stands for Too Stupid for Arby's".
Interesting...
Thanks for the mention.
Thanks Bigg Red.
Government buffoons, but I repeat myself.
Good point.
Why isn’t CALIFORNIA on that list?
New Mexico is giving out 2 forms of driver’s license right now. If you have the ordinary NM license you can’t use it for ID to fly, enter military facilities, ETC. You have to get the Real ID driver’s license to use as real ID. How confusing is that? If we didn’t have the real ID driver’s license we would be on that list.
We have to go through this major process to get the real ID, you have to prove you are who you say you are (harder than you think, it depends on who you talk to at DMV what you need for this) and then have to prove you live where you say you do. With all the rural areas we have if you have a Post Office address then that will be hard as well. They will accept an electric bill showing your physical address. My electric bill says “Brown House” in that space so I have to first get my electric company to change that.
We have to go through all of this because NM was handing out driver’s licenses like candy. Now we have 2 licenses so they can still give illegals a driver’s license. Craziness.
Yet if we ask that people have an ID to vote we are being racist!
Yes and some states balked at the idea that everyone has to verify their physical address, not just verify who they are. I have to wonder why we have to give up that freedom? Not everyone wants their physical address public, for many reasons.
I have no real reason, but I do recognize that it is one less freedom. I have heard some veterans have had issues with the VA if they cannot prove their physical address. I am old enough to remember when the government didn’t really care where you lived.
If they penalize illegals it is racist of course. They can penalize citizens all they want but not illegals.
With corrupt officials at driver’s license bureaus in numerous states KNOWINGLY providing driver’s licenses to persons with falsified identity (including MULTIPLE identities/licenses), a driver’s license is ‘worthless’ to providing identity.
“Real ID” may protect against forging an ID in a computer but it does nothing to eliminate genuine IDs for “fake” people being sold by corrupt AF government employees.
>>I never understood the reasoning for the real ID act or how it enhances security for air travel.
It’s to stop consumers from buying a round trip and selling off “half” of the ticket. That’s been the policy since the 1980s and no it did not prevent the 9-11 attacks.
Even AFTER the 9-11 attacks there was a case exposed where a corrupt woman in Tennessee knowingly sold IDs to middle eastern men (from the NYC/NJ area) who travel to TN to get the IDs. The Feds were aware of the scam and arrested all involved. The woman was bonded out and murdered as soon as she got out (firebombed in her car). There was talk of deporting the Middle Easterners involved.
Regarding MO, we indeed meet and exceed the REAL ID requirements for DL/Non DL ID proof of residence/citizenship etc. What we will not do is copy all the documents required at the state level and send to the Feds- until now, one can opt-in to have their documents sent to jack-boot land in return for a “REAL ID” compliant DL/non DL ID.
Our citizenry approved a constitutional amendment that prohibits an en masse non-legislated compliance to REAL ID some years ago, recently the state legislature passed a law allowing the “opt-in” choice by the person applying for a DL non DL ID. Why does the fedgov need copies of all the documents states require to issue IDs? Database of course, otherwise the fedgov has no idea who is whom, as it should be. Papers please.....
As it stands now, MO ID holders cannot enter military or other federal facilities on the basis of a MO issued ID.....(unless it is one of the compliant versions).
Yep and MD isn’t on the list for air travel but still a problem with bars in other states (up until 2015 or so) for proper ID.
Well that would bo back to 597 B.C. for sure.
Ummm, didn’t the Temple worship end around 70AD with the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus; 1290 years would be a bit later than 693, more like 1360 AD....
Temple worship resumed after the captivity and was practiced until Israel/Judah was annihilated by Rome. Jesus’ passion/resurrection ended it spiritually, the Romans were the geopolitical entity that God used to end it physically.
A perfect setup for the OWR with the Antichrist and the False Prophet pointing everyone to that guy for the Mark.
Well, you just confirm my thoughts, that this Real ID act has nothing to do with airport security, nothing to do with fighting terrorism, nothing to do with preventing airline hijackings.
I just always note this was passed after 9-11 as some sort of needed security feature to help fight terrorism, when in fact it does nothing of the sort.
But I know many facets of life have changed after 9/11. They have security screenings to get into ball games and places such as Disneyland nowadays, for example.
I think discostu stated the reason: fake v real IDs and I know it’s an issue for bars/clubs that scan IDs. But it’s surprising or not that TSA has an issue with it since they screw up scanning passengers daily.
