This is what really needs done. After not repealing ObamaSnare, the GOP/RINOs can’t blow this off without slitting their own throats. They’ve farted around like a bunch of spinsters and now it’s almost 2018. Leave a loophole in reform for what the tax piece is and just by God do something. The Treasury is already collecting record revenues now and not because of Congress. It’s inspite of it.
He called on Congress to replace Obamacare and look how well that turned out. Trump had no plan of his own so he was dependent on whatever crap Ryan and McConnell came up with.
One hopes that this time Trump has a plan. Not platitudes. Not broad themes. Not 10 second sound bites. But a real plan with real goals and real ways of reaching them. Trump should be having someone drop off a copy of is plan on Ryan and McConnell's desks and saying, "This is what the President wants. Turn it into legislation and do it." But I doubt that is what is going to happen.

Loved the speech but business tax cuts are useless unless he continues to deal with illegals. The money will be used to hire illegals rather than hiring citizens. I believe he will push both.

Well, first we only know what they are telling us, which might not exactly correspond to what they are actually doing. And second, it might not be to anyone’s advantage for any president to micromanage a given bill after providing direction in broad brush strokes. Third, I am no expert on anything, so... :-)

Just to simplify the damn tax code would be the greatest gift anyone could wish for. What we have now is a very dangerous game played by house rules. Nobody wins and everybody loses, there is no neutral outcome.
I’m like Rumsfeld, the only thing I know for sure about my taxes is that they are wrong and I can be punished for that no matter how hard I try to make them right or how much I worry about them. The tax code is a threat that is used by politicians to punish enemies and reward friends.
Just one card, just one deduction per head of household and one per dependent exempting a standard of living and one flat rate after that. Forget everything else.
And a national budget limited to some percentage of GDP and a balanced budget amendment and no more base line budgeting. Justify every expense every year and give the pukes in congress something to do besides what ever it is they do now.
Guess we could have gone with President Hillary then.
