Defense Secy Mattis Freezes Transgender Policy Pending Study

Defense Secretary James Mattis says transgender troops will be allowed to continue serving in the military while the Pentagon studies the issue.

This comes after President Trump reversed an Obama-era policy that would allow trans-soldiers to serve.

In a statement the Defense Secretary said once the panel reports its recommendations and he meets with the Homeland Security Secretary, he wll provide his advice to the president.

This will allow the Trump administration to decide how to respond to the president’s executive order.

He says in the meantime, the policy will remain law.

SecDef Mattis is doing the proper thing re: “ In a statement the Defense Secretary said once the panel reports its recommendations and he meets with the Homeland Security Secretary, he will provide his advice to the president. There must be a policy drafted that can become the new regulation regarding T-Gs. Without such a definite policy there will be a similar chaos that happened last January when the order on limiting some immigrants into the US.

the SecDef is not overriding orders as no orders have been issued, merely the President’s tweet on what he wants. I agree with the President’s goal of eliminating T-Gs from the military, but I also realize that it has to be done with properly created regulations.

Here is one part the trans ban order explicitly directing Mattis to do exactly what he said he's going to do.  I just need to verify if it's real?

Its always harder to un-do bad laws than to enact them (ref. Obamacare). Better to try toget this done right than to end up with endless liberal judges declaring it unconstitutional and nothing getting resolved for years. That’s likely to happen anyway...

But, the trannies already know that joining the military is not going to automatically get them free sex change surgery, so there should be a deterrent effect.

The policy was put on hold a while back. Trump is still looking for ways to implement a policy.
