In case you were wondering how long it would take before you'd start seeing results of Amazon's recently approved acquisition of Whole Foods, the answer is "like, right now."

In addition the uniquely meaty merger of visual branding seen above—a photo caught at an LA-area Whole Foods location by USA Today's Los Angeles bureau chief Chris Woodyard—prices are already starting to drop on many of Whole Foods' most popular items.

I found the following to be the most intriguing part of the article:

"As for concerns of global consumer-market takeover and a singularity-level monopoly on Amazon's behalf over everything from our food supply to our media to our electronics and personal care items, well, we'll worry about that later! Cheap avocados, guys!"

Dont know much about monopoly or anti trust laws, worked in the graphics dept at four investment banks :)

Can govt do anything when one company starts taking over WAY too much?

Don’t care. When we went the one time, the “Enviro-Kids” cereal put an end to it. It’s a “We know something you don’t.” smarmy smug attitude that’s a turn off too. See ya. And, amazon......................

Although I don’t shop at Whole Foods, my understanding is that their prices are generally pretty inflated, so I don’t understand all the hoopla over Amazon trimming the prices at Whole Foods. To me it’s like Gucci saying some item which was priced at $500 now only costs $325 (which is made for about $10.)

Unbelievable how much ink has been spilled over Amazon supposedly reducing prices at Whole Foods. People must live really boring lives to have such a fixation on this.

Go interview the folks selling produce (veggies) to Whole Foods. The demands are staggering.

I think the last sentence is the best!

“Might be time to change Whole Foods’ nickname of “Whole Paycheck” to the more accurate “the Vast Majority of Your Paycheck with a Little Left Over for Late-Night Amazon Prime Impulse Purchases.””

Whole Foods’ parking lots are almost as annoying as the Trader Joe’s parking lots. Way too small and crowded, both in number and size of slots.

Didn’t shop at Whole Paycheck before, mostly because I don’t think it is worth the incremental price increase. Bezos Food is on the avoid at all costs list.

Yeah, exactly like the one I frequently pass and I have visited — once. Very small parking lot. Very hard to get in and out. I wonder if this is intentional to create the illusion of constant beehive activity? Or are all the Whole Foods shoppers being pressed to walk or ride their bicycle to the grocery store?

I dropped in on the Fairfield, CT store on Monday night after work and was impressed with the new prices on many items. Already the Walmart shoppers were showing up. The uppity clientele there are going to have their beautiful store experience marred by regular folk. Let’s see how tolerant they really are !

You wasted a lot of ink there!

But hey, if you shopped there, you’d be excited!

Now, I wouldn’t put it past ol’ Jeff B to be generating a lil bit of this wasted ink himself...

Nah, won’t happen! Them regular folk are still too intimidated to shop there. It’s a class thing.

Prices even after the drop are still much higher than my local Kroger.

So instead of taking a whole paycheck, it still takes most of a paycheck.

We have a Whole Foods where I live, but I’ll pass on shopping there.

I’m all ears :)

You can follow up the insult cartoon with your reasoning why it is ok for Amazon to grow so big

Maybe it is. Maybe it isn’t. I’m no expert on the subject.

I do know after a while prices tend to REALLY rise when one company owns everything.

Check out the meat prices at amazon fresh BTW.

Start at about 20 a pound.
