2 men charged in red light shooting death of Chelsie Lynn Kirschten

JACKSON, Miss. —

Jackson police have made two arrests in connection with the shooting death of Chelsie Lynn Kirschten.

Kirschten, 23, was shot and killed Aug. 17 as she sat in her car waiting on a red light at Fortification and State streets, according to police.

The gunman said nothing when he walked up to the driver’s side closed window of Kirschten’s white Pontiac G6 and shot her in the back, police said.

A passenger in Kirschten’s car told police that the gunman, who was wearing dark clothing, didn’t take anything after the shooting and walked away, investigators said.

The reward for info was upped a few days ago, from $2500 to $5000. Wonder if that had anything to do with the arrest. Still nothing about a motive. And I see a judge has set a bail of 200 grand for one of them.

Thank goodness that the races weren’t reversed or we’d have to here about this killing NON-STOP for the next month, since it would have been a hate crime.

In this case, we can attribute it to a ‘misunderstanding’, ‘workplace violence’, or a ‘lone wolf’, but certainly not a hate crime, since only whites are capable of that.

Curious what she was doing in Jackson, Mississippi at 11:45 pm. Jackson is a well-known "no go" area for white people. Looks like the sports bar she worked at is in Jackson so she might've been leaving work.

Apparently her brother was on TV saying she was turning her life around.

A childhood friend of mine was murdered in Jackson a couple of years ago. He was in his 50s and single. The perp was given 10 years. When I was a little girl, Eric’s Mama gave me a children’s storybook that had been Eric’s. I still have it and have read it to all of my children. It is my favorite. Eric’s murderer was sentenced to TEN YEARS. Maybe this pretty white young lady’s killer will receive a longer sentence.
