President Donald Trump traveled to Texas today to survey the damage from Hurricane Harvey and be briefed on the storm relief efforts. During a stop in Corpus Christi, the president treated it much like a campaign rally, highlighting the size of the crowd that turned out to watch him speak.
This afternoon, CNN senior White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny remarked that in his reaction to the historic storm so far, POTUS appears to be more focused on the emergency response, businesses and his crowds as opposed to the victims themselves.
Reporting from Austin, where the president was scheduled to arrive at the states emergency command center, Zeleny provided the following observation to CNN anchor Brianna Keilar:
One thing I am struck by here, seeing all the stories of emotion, all the stories of loss, of devastation still unfolding we do not know the extent of the damage here very little in terms of empathy from this president. Very little in terms of emotion or talking directly to the people of Texas. Hes been talking about the businesses, talking about the response and his crowd. Certainly, this is a test, a new moment for this president. But how hell ultimately be judged, Brianna, as every president is in a disaster like this, is not on today, its on the response and the recovery and how Texas rebuilds if they get federal funds, et cetera, months, perhaps even years, from now.

This particular visit was not to get in the way while saving lives is going on. Trump was not around tons of survivors this time.
That may change over the weekend.
He should be struck. Repeatedly.
One door is marked “empathy”, the other “help”
Trump is never good enough for a bigot because a bigot will always change their minds. Inform the little bigot that Trump has addressed the Texans and it will say something else.
I guess Trump should have made a little cross of rocks in the Texas mud and bit his lip. Liberals always yak about “feelings”. Because you can’t prove anything about feelings one way or the other. So just make the claim.
This means the media has got nothing.
Feels > reals
Unless you are calculating what to build.
These Nazi propagandists at CNN are simply drawing lots to see who will be hanged first for treason.
To liberals, appearing compassionate is more important than doing the right thing.
Jeff Zeleny can’t relate because Trump is supposed to bite his lip and emote fake empathy on cue for the benefit of the TV cameras.
He doesn’t look concerned so Zeleny jumps to the conclusion the President has little empathy for Harvey victims.
For liberals, appearance matters more than substance. The fact lives are being saved and TX is going to come strong out of this disaster is of no concern to them.
Empathy, indeed.
One reporter jerk, on one of the channels I was skipping through, made the comment that Trump didn’t even go to the people and hold a baby and shake a survivor’s hand.
No ‘photo-ops’ equals gross lack of feelings for the people??
If He reached out and shook your C@CK you would still BITC#!
Jerk.
Evidently that former Bush mouthpiece Ari Fleischer agrees with the skinny homo.
Fleischer and Perino, two GOPe pod people.
“CNN” says it all.
I’ve seen people complaining because he made a comment about the people who came out in Corpus. Had he not they’d be complaining about that.
Now Bill Clinton had a lot of empathy. Remember the Ron Brown funeral? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf8TOGrq8Bo
These lies are not earning any votes other than those they already have. And in reality, they are costing votes by their disgusting behavior.
Sorry I meant can’t save them. Damn auto-correct.
That’s a face just looking for a fist to run into, if I ever saw one.
