WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Friday officially stopped funding for sex-reassignment treatment for transgender people currently in the military and barred the Pentagon from accepting any more transgender people into the services.
The president signed a memo giving new guidance to his previously-tweeted ban on transgender individuals serving in the U.S. military, according to a senior White House official who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity.
Trump signed the memo, the details of which were first reported by The Wall Street Journal, on Friday and directed the departments of Defense and Homeland Security to stop funding of sex-reassignment procedures and deny entry of transgender individuals into the military.
But the Trump administration official was unable to answer questions about whether the estimated thousands of transgender service members currently serving would be allowed to remain in the military.
The administration's guidance gives Defense Secretary James Mattis some leeway when considering whether individual transgender service members would be allowed to continue to serve. The defense secretary would be able to military effectiveness, unit cohesion, budget restraints and other factors, the administration official said.
The Pentagon and Department of Defense have six months to develop an implementation plan.
Asked if at the end of the six month implementation period it was possible that transgender people already serving will continue, the official said the administration didn't have "anything to say beyond the policy enunciated in the memo."

If I'm not mistaken, officers undergo a performance evaluation before reenlistment. While they may not be denied, the evaluation pretty much lets them know that future promotions will be unlikely and so they quietly retire......
I would not keep anyone who is critically reliant on medication, whether transgender, diabetic, or even serious blood pressure sufferers.
Nor would I accept for assignment or for PT testing, combat MOS, dress, living location, facilities use, or other standards anyone for anything other than their DNA gender identity
I would give those who enlisted under that brief Obama allowance period, the chance to exit military service under honorable conditions. Those who stay will understand and accept the return to the military’s original policies.
Did the Pentagon force the military to accept strippers and whores (who FELT it was a 'mistake' they weren't BORN BEAUTIFUL) then give them a year or two of free plastic surgery costing $50,000+? During which time they couldn't serve overseas because they needed to be near their doctors?

Now, make all enlisted transgender serve their terms of enlistment in non-battle ready positions.
Push the mental illness aspect of this to one side for a second. This surgery sounds expensive.
There are already any number of reasons why a person who has served honorably cannot reenlist: too many people of that rank and military job specialty, been in the same rank past a certain time limit, too fat, can't pass their PT test, any number of medical reasons as well ...
It might only become an issue if the individual is in a critically-short job specialty. Then it may become difficult to justify ... however, if the regs are written in such a manner that it is labeled a medical disqualification, then that overrides pretty much all else.

That process is known as a bar to re-enlistment.
I would still build a 30 foot prefab concrete wall betwween those fenses with 5 foot section of those walls buried under ground and place live aligators in those ditches.
Make any MS-13 gang members who are caught help build the walls and used as live bait for demo purposes that those alligators are real.
Throw in a few Piranhas for extra measure.
