Recommendation? Need a Really Comfortable Travel Car, Think Sofa, With Wheels.
Recent car history Mazda MPV 1998 back when it was a great vehicle Xterra Golf TDi Jeep Sahara Unlimited
Now I need a travelin' car. I would keep the Jeep but it is too noisy.
Stopped in at a Volvo dealership and tried a s60, too stiff a ride for long trips and not comfortable seats.
Any recommendations for a really comfortable car? Just for me and perhaps one other passenger and our luggage?
I am thinking of a 2015 or 2016. All wheel drive would be nice. A little retro would be fine too.
Any ideas?

Love my Flex. And it is even comfortable in the back seat. My daughter had a large Transit in China and we all fit in with a driver. Would love to try the Connect, tho. Can get Friends and neighbors discount for you from Ford if you choose one.
Per this review this is one of the amenities:
One final technological flourish is the touch-sensitive door system that allows "your assistant or valet" to lightly touch the sensor on the handle and set in motion the automatic whispering close of the door to leave you cosseted inside slumped in the seats inspired by the classic Eames lounge chair of 1956. Of course, being a Phantom, patrons will be able to commission different seating choices, including a lounge seat and even a new sleeping seat.
No need to thank me, but I would be happy to be your assistant or valet so long as I can also be your driver.
Buy a pre owned Lexus ES 350. Will come with a warranty from the Lexus dealer. Heated and cooled seats. Safe too. Comes with knee air bags and side impacts for all 4 doors. I had one and no issues in over 260k miles. I drove like a maniac in that too. Cruise set at 126mph on I-80 coming from Wendover, NV to DOC a lot. I’ve grown up a bit since then.
That’s an outrageous price for a Michigan Cadillac. I suppose all the rust has been “repaired”.
You can buy a 1970 El Dorado with 500 CID...it’s full life in California for about $20k.
I have an 06 Grand Marquis. When I have a relative that needs a ride to the doctor for any length of travel I am the one they call. My son tore his knee up and I hauled him to surgery, back and to PT. My Dad fell and hurt his knee same thing. My mother in law tore her knee up I hauled her to doctor and PT as well. My youngest son is 15 yrs. old son is begging me to give him this car when he turns 16.
You think you hate it now, wait 'til you drive it.
We would have to live in the car.
I could pretend I am Howard Johnson.
My wife’s Camry hybrid rides as smooth as any luxury car I’ve been in.
Looks like something you’d see at Green Park at Sebring back in the day.
The Flex hasn’t been discontinued yet, and you can still order a 2018. My husband said he will buy another when they do. My daughter drove a new one from Detroit the other day and I liked it better than mine. Has all the whistles and bells, too. My husband is 6’5” and 300 lbs. He fits in it just fine.
We had one of those and it was a good car.
The best though was the Roadmaster. It could smoke the tires, got 27 mpg, rode like a living room on wheels, quiet and confident in all respects. Outstanding car.
This wife agrees with your wife :)
One of the best 80s movies.
Suggest you look at a Ford Fusion Sport - 2.7 twin-turbo V6, 325hp, quiet with good ride (magnetic adaptive suspension) Good road car! I had a Subaru Outback which was well-built and had a good seating position but it was fairly noisy and I never got used to the CVT transmission.
Ford Taurus X or Freestyle. Almost the same model.
Cool, thanks! I fit great when we gave it a test drive. Except for my feet. Which ain’t dainty. Other than that, I loved the car. It has lots of head, hip, and leg room.
Lincoln Town Car
Biggest, heaviest, Caddy or Lincoln you can get your hands on. I always assumed that Sport Coupe type cars were better for 1000 mile road trips because they would keep you awake with their noise and ride. One say just for the heck of it I rented a Town Car for one trip and the difference was night and day! I was FAR less fatigued and sore after 1000 miles. The soft seat and smooth ride did not lull me to sleep as I was afraid it might. I never came close to getting tired and sleepy. I was fresh from start to finish, 1000 miles alone, nonstop except for gas.
I got 24 day after day after day making a long commute from outside of Houston. It just never varied. I got 27 like clockwork driving 75 on long trips. Never varied by more than a mpg.
True. One of the best cars ever. A shame they no longer make them. Same V8 as a mustang and I’ll take cubes over revs any old day.
