As white supremacists converged on a Charlottesville park for their violent “Unite the Right” rally, some of them menaced the city’s historic Beth Israel synagogue during Shabbat services, standing across from the building with semi-automatic weapons in their hands. “Had they tried to enter, I don’t know what I could have done to stop them, but I couldn’t take my eyes off them, either,” wrote Alan Zimmerman, the president of the Reform congregation, about the three neo-Nazis he stared down as congregants prayed inside.

Zimmerman, in an essay published on ReformJudaism.org, said that neo-Nazis marching past the building shouted hateful slogans like “Seig Heil,” the Third Reich’s “Hail Victory” shout. He added that the synagogue had retained an armed guard, after the Charlottesville police department failed to provide the synagogue with security on Saturday. The synagogue took other precautionary measures, due to calls on far-right Web sites for the building to be burned. Zimmerman said that he and the rabbis decided to remove the congregation’s Torah scrolls to a more secure location.... Yes. There were some Nazis in Charlottesville. Demanding proof of reports of Nazi menacing is no better than demanding proof of reports of communist menacing. Both extremes are trash only recently descended from foreign nations.

There are hundreds of churches in the area around me, and none of them have firearms clubs. The majority are also quite feminist, libertine and supported by recipients of incomes directly and indirectly from the various levels of big government. It's one of the consequences of decades of the divorce/cohabitation paradigm.

An observant Jewish person would not have his cellphone on his person on Shabbos, let alone use it. I doubt even an apikoros Reform would take his cellphone to Synagogue on Shabbos.

I carry nothing except my pistol and my carry permit (both of which have been approved by the Rabbi as necessary given the times in which we live).

And note, I am not taking sides with ANTIFA. I am fully aware they are just as, if not more, antisemitic than Neo-Nazis. And ANTIFA is certainly more dangerous, as it is international, organized, and well-funded.

But to doubt that Nazis tried to intimidate Jews is willful blindness.

I view the ANTIFA vs. Nazi battle the same as I do Syria: my preferred solution is for all sides to wipe each other out.

It should also be noted that the Nazi thugs marching back and forth in front of the Synagogue were armed, openly. And I seriously doubt as many seem to suggest these were Antifa communist thugs dressed up as Nazis.
