Florida Highway Patrol troopers have been told by a top official that they have to write more speeding tickets.
FHP Major Mark Welch told troopers under his command in an email that the patrol wants to see two citations each hour during their shift. He added that the directive was not a quota.
The FHPs top priority is saving lives on Floridas roadways. To achieve this, FHP conducts education and enforcement efforts aimed at curbing dangerous driving behavior. The FHP absolutely does not establish quotas for its members, however, an interaction with an FHP Trooper, whether it is through a warning or citation, can undoubtedly save countless lives each year, said FHP Lt. Colonel Michael Thomas in a statement.

I saw this on the local news yesterday.
No matter how he tries to mislead, it is clearly a quota.
“The FHP absolutely does not establish quotas for its members, however...”
...except when it does. Dirt bags. Glad I moved out 17 years ago.
They could save lives and money for all of us if they just drove up and down the interstates with their blue lights going.
People automatically slow down....................
Do they have a quota?
Hell no, they can write as many as they want.
It is a matter of chasing enough of them down.
How many infractions do you see when you drive?
People drive sloppily because they CAN!
Now, how about distracted by cell phone drivers? They never see motorcyclists!
I need two citations each hour, but it’s not a quota. Troopers who are not good producers will not advance due to “poor performance”, but remember: this is not a quota, merely a suggestion for a successful career.
Revenue generating scum.

It’s a state job. Advancement comes from 1) Diversity factors 2) Butt kissing 3) Longevity 4) Performance.
and while the officer is writing a ticket for that speedster in a mini van who was going 5 miles over someone zooms by going 90-100...
On the day of my "trial" I told the judge that I didn't do it *and* presented a copy of that article.
He immediately dismissed the case.
They drove around drinking beer and when asked by my brother why they just drove by a deer, dead in the road, the response was, "You don't want to get them all the first day, do ya'."
Teachers, cops, DMV workers and Road Kill Removal Workers need standards.
It’s an obscure outcome of the quantum uncertainty principle: the quota becomes a “safety directive” whenever a member of the public looks at it. Call it “quota mechanics”.
Quota?
Reminds me of this story......
The cop handed the woman her ticket and she angrily said if it weren’t for his ticket quota, she would not have gotten a speeding ticket.
The cop replied; “Quota? I don’t have a quota Ma’am. I can write as many tickets as I like.”
Oro Valley Az. has a similar reputation.
“It’s not a quota” but it’s a quota.
It is a quota. Not for LEOs being revenue collectors.
OTOH, the way Florida folks drive, 2 citations per hour is what they could be issuing, on a normal day, no problem.
“Not a quota” Someone always gets a prize for the most tickets at the end of the month though.
Geez! This doesn’t normally happen until the last few days of the month.
Typical government-speak - a not-a-quota quota.
