A Corbin woman was charged with assault Monday night after she poured gasoline over her husband and set him on fire, the Laurel County Sheriffs Office said in a Facebook post.
The victim, whose name was not released, suffered burns on more than half of his body and was taken by helicopter to a Cincinnati burn center for treatment, according to the sheriffs office. He was listed in critical condition.
Vera Wooten, 40, was arrested in London on a charge of first-degree assault.
The attack, sometime before 8 p.m., followed a domestic dispute on Woodland Court, 10 miles south of London, according to the sheriffs office.
Then Wooten apparently drove her husband to St. Joseph London, and from there he was flown to Cincinnati.
She was being held in the Laurel County jail.

At least it’s a man and a woman marriage. That should count for something.
Dr. Phil, can this marriage be saved?
911? Yes we have an emergency the woman down the street just set her husband on fire.
Thats the call the Laurel County 911 center received about 8 p.m. Monday, after police say Vera Roseanne Wooten found her husband in a car with another woman. She yanked him of the car then took her anger one step further.
Somehow the man was doused with gasoline, and set on fire, said Gilbert Acciardo with the Laurel Co. Sheriffs Office.
After getting yelled out by Wooten, police say the woman (that was in the car with Wootens husband) began to leave, but as she was pulling out, she turned around and could see the victim on fire in her rear-view mirror. She was the one who called 911.
Oh God, hes absolutely in flames up to his head, said the caller.
He still is now? asked the dispatcher.
Hes running around. I dont know if hes still hes still in flames, she said.
Police say Wooten then drove her own husband, identified as John Wooten, to the London hospital where he was airlifted to Cincinnatis special burn unit hospital.
He was burned from his knees to his neck, both front and back. Over 50% of his body, said Acciardo.
Wooten has been accused of threatening to harm her husband before. Two years ago in Jackson, in Breathitt County, police say an argument led to gunfire.
She told us she was cleaning the gun, it accidentally went off, said Jackson Police Chief Kenneth Spicer in the story that aired in April of 2015.
No one was hurt then, and Wooten was later cleared of the charges when a grand jury did not return an indictment. Now shes in jail again, though, and her husband is fighting for his life.
Deputies investigating said he was extremely critical when they transported him, said Acciardo.
Wooten remains in jail facing assault first, domestic violence charges. She is scheduled to answer to the charges on Wednesday morning in Laurel District Court.
If you removed the glasses, 15 or so years, and gave her some sleep, she probably would make it out of the corner, but she would still be hitting the top.
Perhaps she was Gender-confused. Yeah, that’s the ticket. s/
After reading post 24, if that account is true, then she may not be hitting the top—though still well within the quadrant.
That is one of the funniest f*cking things I’ve read in awhile and I will probably use it at the earliest opportunity.
Yep.
Cleaning the gun.
Right.
So considerate by driving him to the hospital. And she was able to use the HOV lane too!
Please be my guest. LOL.
Never sing Doors songs to a crazy woman.

Post it anyway.
Some folks aren’t picking up on the reference.
C’mon, blueunicorn6 (”Baby”)...
Gosh, I remember when Marie Osmond sang that song to me.
Well, a guy can dream can’t he?
Or Jose Feliciano songs.
It's southeastern Kentucky, way back in the hills. The gas can was on the front porch with the lawnmower, and mowing is women's work.
If he’d sung Feliz Navidad, she’d have given him a pair of slippers.
Music choice is always critical in a relationship.
