The Senate moved unanimously to block President Trump from making appointments during the August break this evening. Democrats had said they'd make such a move after reports emerged that Trump was considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the recess.
The Senate agreed to hold pro forma sessions throughout the recess. This procedure was also used to block appointments during the Obama administration.
Worth noting: the announcement was made by moderate Republican Lisa Murkowski, who split from Trump over health care. The Senate also made a slew of confirmations and passed several measures before shutting down for the summer.
Another update: The Senate will not hold any legislative sessions until September. Mitch McConnell had previously intended to delay the break until August 11 to allow the now-stalled health care plan to move forward.
Sure is nice owning both houses of congress isn’t it?
‘Give us Congress. Oh the places we’ll go!”

Session should un-recuse himself. He is the key, that’s why opposit holds him hostages.
The Senate is an outlaw.
Article II, Section 2, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution says:
..... Unfortunately .... I’m really beginning to think at this point this new administration has now been neutered ..... There are now too many spot fires to put out and the momentum is increasing exponentially. I wish I were wrong but it appears there will be no stopping this Coup d’état because of this momentum.
Well, we know where these traitors stand.
Isn’t it amazing that it was UNANIMOUS!!
The irony...
Television is broadcasting our Mockingjay, President Trump, talking to voters in District 13, West Virginia...talking to people who probably have never even seen their Senators in person, letting them know he is with them. He uses the “we” pronoun often, and he talks about issues about which they care deeply.
Meanwhile, in the Capitol City, the elites are voting UNANIMOUSLY against the man of the people and setting up their next version of The Hunger Games.
Unanimous vote...Just wow :(
We can’t right now with the approval ratings the way they are, but I firmly contend those are the results of a poor communications strategy.
So, this means that cRuz voted for this? It says it requires the vote of EVERY Senator. Was he one of two (McShame the other??) who weren’t voting?
I’ve looked for the roll call, but it is nowhere to be found.
I would say it's the side which has been covertly seeding our neighborhoods, schools, local government and police forces throughout the entire country with ISIS and Mexican drug cartels. I can sit here right now and point out 4-5 homes in my own neighborhood that are housing some shady characters of the international terrorist variety. I think that a lot of Americans who are telling themselves that "we have all the guns" and "we have the military" are going to be quite shocked at who is in their backyard when SHTF happens.
Leads me to think our first wave should be to go on strike. Just quit paying their taxes; starve the beast. As Ayn Rand said, "They rule over us only with our consent." Take back our consent. Then they'll shoot first and it's on.
What? No it's not. The Senate just voted unanimously on this measure. The worst that will happen are some posts in all caps on Free Republic and possibly a few tweets.
Sure looks that way.
We had that for the past 8 years. No thanks!
The Republican Democratic Uniparty needs competition.

You seem to presume that the sides are Democrats and Republicans.
The implication of your comment is that religious people are brainless.
I’m not a preachin kind myself, think of myself as a libertarian, but what have folks like Mo Brooks done to remove leaders like Paul Ryan.
The “Freedom Caucus” types preach a bit themselves this faith called “Conservatism” but don’t give it teeth by removing corrupt leaders like Paul Ryan from leadership through opposing him in the caucus.
They’re as much hypocrites as the folks who call themselves “Christians”.
For better or worse, Mr. Moore knows what its like to have the “deep state” in Alabama take him out twice and it looks like that’s what Donald Trump is running head on into as I make this post.
Advise and Consent? They following the Obstruct and Restrict rule.
The Senate can’t adjourn more than 3 days anyway without the consent of the House- which wasn’t given.
If Trump had wanted to recess appoint he’d have made a fuss.
The two sides ARE democrats and Republicans. Those are the only two parties that run things in DC.
Why hold this vote, then? UNANIMOUS at that.
Why let pompass MurCOWski showboat?
There are many sides in society beyond political parties.
