It was passed by unanimous consent because there wasn’t a quorum there.
I saw one report that only two Senators were present at the time.
As long as no one objects (and everyone knows in advance) that’s OK and normal procedure.
Since they didn’t have the House’s consent to adjourn for more than 3 days none of this mattered.
It means they expect articles of impeachment.
Or some sort of scandal that will take down Trump. Trying to limit the damage once he falls.
