Ken Livingstone: Venezuela crisis caused by Chávez's failure to kill oligarchs

Ken Livingstone, a former mayor of London, has blamed the turmoil in Venezuela on Hugo Chávez’s unwillingness to execute “oligarchs” after he came to power.

“One of the things that Chávez did when he came to power, he didn’t kill all the oligarchs. There was about 200 families who controlled about 80% of the wealth in Venezuela,” Livingstone told Talk Radio.

“He allowed them to live, to carry on. I suspect a lot of them are using their power and control over imports and exports to make it difficult and to undermine Maduro.”

Maduro and his cronies are oligarchs of a tyrannical variety. The only benefit is those in Venezuela who were obese have lost weight. The Big Stump Mustachio remains well fed while the common folks suffer from lack of every staples caused by his heavy hand. This pathetic bleating is nothing more than the standard apologia of a Communist when the mask is torn off to reveal the monster underneath. When Livingstone complains that they didn't take his advice to invest in infrastructure he tactfully neglects to mention what they did do with the money. They stole it. One of Hugo Chavez's daughters is now The Richest Person In Venezuela at $4.2 billion as a result. That could have paid for a lot of infrastructure.

It always seems to run the same course and end up in the same swamp, with the same crowd of useful idiots on the banks sniveling that it all could have been different if they'd only done it differently. I wouldn't give the likes of Red Ken Livingstone any more attention than I'd give a museum exhibit of a two-headed mummy, because he's just as dusty and out of date and just as fake.
