Yo radu!
I popped over to his place late AM before he left for work and visited him and the dogs for a bit.
On my way home I stopped off at this great Mom and Pop cafe I've been going to for awhile and brought one of their French dip sandwiches home. Delicious, tender roast beef smothered in onions and mushrooms on a hoagie bun with their home-made fries, delicious!
Just been hanging with the A/C since.
We have some forest fire smoke that blew down from Canada that surrounds the valley here. When I woke up this morning and the sun was just over the tree line, the sun appeared as a big red, flaming ball that you could look directly at through the smoke haze; as it got higher it went dark orange and then broke through yellow and warmed up. Very beautiful.

BAND OF BROTHERS
WORLD WAR II
Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" June 7, 1944 at Ste. Marie du Mont, France
"THIS DAY IS CALL'D the feast of Crispian. He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, Will stand a tip-toe when this day is named, And rouse him at the name of Crispian. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say, "To-morrow is Saint Crispian." Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, And say, "These wounds I had on Crispin's day."
KOREA
Marines of the "Chosin Few", 1st Marine Division Chosin Reservoir, Korea, December 1950
"OLD MEN FORGET; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words, Harry the King, Bedford, and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester, Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered."
VIETNAM
FMF Corpsman D. R. Howe treats the wounds of Pfc. D. A. Crum, USMC "H" Company, 2nd Battalion, Fifth Marine Regiment, during Operation Hue City.
"WE FEW, WE HAPPY FEW, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition: And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day." (Henry V, Act IV, Scene iii)
AFGHANISTAN
Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division in action, Afghanistan, 2011
OUR NATIONAL MEMORIALS October 2013
"ONCE MORE unto the breach, dear friends, once more, Or close the wall up with our English dead. In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility; But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage; Then lend the eye a terrible aspect; Let it pry through the portage of the head Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it As fearfully as does a galled rock O'erhang and jutty his confounded base, Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean."(Henry V, Act III, Scene i)
THE STRUGGLE AGAINST TYRANNY GOES ON, AS IT HAS FROM TIMES IMMEMORIAL. THE BAND OF BROTHERS STILL STANDS FAST IN THE BREACH!
THEY HAVE OUR SIX!
Honor Them For Their Service And Sacrifice!

Did the puppy out on a show for y’all while you were there? LOL! Or was it already too hot for him to go outside to run around the yard?
Yuck on the smoke from the forest fire. Makes for pretty sunrises and sunsets but not good for anything else. It sux there are so many fires on that side of the country and in Canada this year. :-(
Not much going on here. Took Armand to the vet for an overnight stay. He’ll have his bad tooth/teeth pulled first thing tomorrow morning.
Now just sitting here watching “Salvation” on tv. It’s turned out to be a pretty cool show.

Peace and Trust
August 3, 2017
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27
When I was six years old I rode a roller coaster for the first time with my older brothers. As soon as we hit a turn at a high speed I started to yell: Stop this thing right now! I want to get off! Of course the roller coaster didnt stop, and I had to white knuckle it, hanging on tight for the rest of the ride.
Sometimes life can feel like an unwanted roller coaster ride, with downhill drops and hairpin curves we never see coming. When unexpected difficulties occur, the Bible reminds us that our best recourse is to place our trust in God. It was in a tumultuous time when invasion threatened his country that the prophet Isaiah, inspired by the Spirit, discerned this powerful promise from the Lord: You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you (Isa. 26:3).
The peace our Savior gives us as we turn to Him transcends all understanding (Phil. 4:7). I will never forget the words of a woman who was struggling with breast cancer. After a group from our church prayed for her one evening, she said, I dont know what will happen, but I know that Ill be okay, because the Lord was here with us tonight.
Life will have its difficulties, but our Savior, who loves us more than life, is greater than them all.
Lord, help me to trust in You so that I may live in peace.
For help, read Navigating the Storms of Life at discoveryseries.org/hp061.
Jesus is our peace.
The peace Paul referenced in Philippians 4:7 closely parallels the rest that Jesus offers us in Matthew 11:2829. Jesus said, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. This gift of soul rest is the peace that every heart cravesa peace that comes from wholeness and rightness (Isa. 26:3). This peace is much more than the absence of conflict; it is the blessing that comes from resting in Christ and His strength. As we learn to rest in Him, we will experience the resulting peace of His presence and power.
Are there specific struggles that are wearing you down? How might you become more intentional about drawing on Christs strength? Bill Crowder

Pretty slow in the Canteen tonight.
The 'lil puppy is so funny, he is usually penned up in the back office when everyone is at work in his own little world.
But when he's let loose, he just loves to play and prove how sharp his puppy teeth are, LOL. You got to keep putting a toy in his mouth or you're going to get a bit of nipping.
The oldest male likes him and they nap together but the younger female barely puts up with him, but she's becoming a little more used to him and they play a bit now, Finally.
Puppies are funny, he's a welcome addition to the house and a crack-up.

Very slow tonight.
The lil guy sounds like a hoot. Do you keep a pile of toys at your feet so there’s always one handy to stick in his mouth? LOL!
Just finished getting new pix of the girlies and it wasn’t easy. The antibiotic’s working and they feel much better tonight, and that means they don’t sit still for more than a couple of seconds. But it was time for “show the growth” pix since they’re 3 months old now.

Good evening, radu...our grass is getting a little drink. Hopefully by morning it will have had a nice drink.
Mom is asleep...for how long, who knows. Suzye said she was really grumpy all day, accusing her of making her eat, and interrupting when Mom was on the phone. She told Suzye to remind her who was coming on Monday when the phone call came. AJ thinks he’s coming off the slope on Monday and getting back to Georgia. She said she just leaves the room when it gets too bad. *sigh* “It’s not like she can follow me.” LOL!
Has it cooled off for you? Any rain?

YAY! You’re getting some more rain. Won’t have to water the lawn any time soon.
Oof, sounds like Suzye had a grand time today with your mom.
I hope she sleeps on through the night so you won’t have to put up with anything like that. You can always leave the room like Suzye does, and I know you do. LOL!
It was comfortable here for a few days with highs only in the low 80s but it was hot and muggy today. Tomorrow will be a repeat and we’ll have another front come through Fri. that will cool us off a bit and give us some rain.
