Lost 33 pounds and had a little more to go. Have been working with a local health and wellness program and monitored dieting.
Very happy and dropped two clothing sizes. Going to try to drop another size or two. I have decided to be a little too little than a little too big.
Using low to moderate calorie high protein, moderate fate low carb diet.
Your diet tips always welcome.
Roasted Brussel sprouts are the Best...as you say...like candy. Even without the bacon.
I too cannot eat nightshades. A tomato a month perhaps. The fasting added to the relief
Congrats to you and nice job. There is no magic pill and no substitute for quantifying what you eat and exercising. Keep up the great effort. Hard work pays off.
Years ago in Switzerland there was a clinic that put people to sleep for a month or six weeks to lose weight.
proper amount and quality sleep is also an important part of weight loss and maintenance - it’s got connections to the body properly using the foods taken in and helps with having proper various chemical levels in the body including gremlin and cortisol which can get wacky and effect weight/appetite.
I’ve also lost 33 pounds and have a little more to go. Down two sizes by watching what I eat. I started the day Trump took office, finding myself happy in my mind, body and soul for first time in many, many years!
Great story, should have reminded them that rice is the most common least allergen.
>> My FRiend Dumbgrunt rigged up a small lunch cooler with some type of warmer, to make his own yogurt <<
Yes, very easy to make. You don’t even need a “warmer” or a lunch cooler or any other kind of special container.
Here’s how:
Tonight before bed, you should heat some fresh whole milk on your stove to a point slightly below boiling, let if cool just until you can hold your finger in it for ten seconds, then quickly stir in some yogurt starter, put in a sterile glass container and close.
Next, wrap the slightly warm glass container securely in a blanket and let it sit overnight. Bingo! In the morning you’ll have full-fat yogurt that’s better than money can buy at the grocery store!
I have Hashimoto’s Thyroid.
Difficult to lose weight. And add a couple of kids along the way and a couple of miscarriages. So I’ve gained & lost. But never really get over 20-25 pounds over weight. But still.
Whole 30. Haven’t seen it mentioned. Love it. No Dairy. No sugar. No grains. And try to abstain from the alcohol, wine and craft styled beer.
I have to exercise 2-3 times a day. Keep the metabolism going.
Not easy. Hopefully THIS time I won’t gain it all back. 125-130 is my ideal weight.
“I finally went back on the high-fat low-sugar diet for good, only now I allow a little bit of balance to include the occasional pizza or other “forbidden” food. Those occasional indulgences help me stay on track the rest of the time as now I don’t feel like I’m always denying myself something.”
Besides, why work real hard with your diet and exercise? Just to look at a “perfect” body in the mirror, or to have someone admire you? That’s not for me - my body is like my furniture - not a museum exhibit, but a working tool to be used and enjoyed. So if you’re not going to indulge every once in a while, what’s the point? It is like accumulating vast riches through hard work and scrimping on expenses, only to never buy anything for yourself - which, to me, is stupid.
Also, as I mention to those in a rush on a diet - “you didn’t gain the weight in a couple of months, and you aren’t going to lose it that quickly, either - and besides, that isn’t healthy and it won’t work over the long term if you could do it.”
The "schedule" is to NOT be consistent. If I fasted three days every Monday-Wednesday, the body will figure it out, and time the hormonal release to accommodate. Just like when I drive to work, I suddenly get hungry because that is the same time I eat in the morning, so the body knows to release the hunger hormone at that time.
So some fasts are one day, some three, usually a two day fast or slightly longer. We did one 99 hour fast before the mountains of lasagna and cookies showed up at our house! LOL NOT what we're supposed to break the fast with....
Also, sometimes life happens. I started to fast Monday, but by Tuesday I was taking my wife to the Hopspittal for surgery, and we were thusly engaged for three days. I could have fasted, but eating helped with the boredom. So We just ... start over. I'm going to fast tomorrow, possibly saturday also.
Just keep it inconsistent so the body cannot predict when food will arrive.
This is the 95% failure diet right here. If you're hungry all the time, you're not happy and most fail. YOU may be strong enough to endure a life of constant hunger. But that is poor advice for most. Also, if you're constantly eating, you're constantly in fat storage mode. This is why most diets fail.
Bump ...
Be careful about Tylenol.
Liver damage is the most serious side effect of Tylenol and can be fatal. Overdosing on Tylenol or other acetaminophen-containing drugs leads to Tylenol poisoning, which in turn leads to liver damage and/or failure. After someone takes Tylenol, the drug is primarily metabolized (processed) in the liver.

:Oh yes I know about Tylenol and am thrilled that I can manage the pain with fasting.
Not many people know that ibuprofen is very problematic and that the manufacturers have quietly changed the instructions on how to use them.
I’m glad to hear that! One of my sisters found fasting to be very effective for her arthritis.
Don't forget sodium! So many low-fat "healthy" foods are packed with sodium!
You are correct, what ever works for you is right. I snack between meals, but not enough to satiate my appetite. My method works for me, but I don't think I'm stronger than most. I try to be strong, but don't always succeed.
This is not intended as advice or as a goal, but letting my hunger regulate my eating has worked for me and it seems to me that any diet that has me losing weight will probably leave me hungry, but that's just me.
Have your thyroid checked, one of the downsides of quitting smoking is hypothyroidism. Occurs six months to one year after quitting.
hey...thanks.
