STATEMENT BY SENATOR JOHN McCAIN ON VOTING “NO” ON “SKINNY REPEAL”
McCain.senate.gov ^ | 7/28/17 | some staffer for McCain

Posted on 07/28/2017 4:31:31 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement today on voting “no” on the so-called “skinny repeal” of Obamacare:

“From the beginning, I have believed that Obamacare should be repealed and replaced with a solution that increases competition, lowers costs, and improves care for the American people. The so-called ‘skinny repeal’ amendment the Senate voted on today would not accomplish those goals. While the amendment would have repealed some of Obamacare’s most burdensome regulations, it offered no replacement to actually reform our health care system and deliver affordable, quality health care to our citizens. The Speaker's statement that the House would be ‘willing’ to go to conference does not ease my concern that this shell of a bill could be taken up and passed at any time.

“I’ve stated time and time again that one of the major failures of Obamacare was that it was rammed through Congress by Democrats on a strict-party line basis without a single Republican vote. We should not make the mistakes of the past that has led to Obamacare’s collapse, including in my home state of Arizona where premiums are skyrocketing and health care providers are fleeing the marketplace. We must now return to the correct way of legislating and send the bill back to committee, hold hearings, receive input from both sides of aisle, heed the recommendations of nation’s governors, and produce a bill that finally delivers affordable health care for the American people. We must do the hard work our citizens expect of us and deserve.”

“...including in my home state of Arizona where premiums are skyrocketing and health care providers are fleeing the marketplace.”

So McCain wants to allow those who passed Obamacare to again bless us all.

Arizonians, enjoy your skyrocketing insurance costs. Really enjoy them. You have earned it.

it offered no replacement to actually reform our health care system and deliver affordable, quality health care to our citizens.

And that's just it, innit.

IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO DELIVER AFFORDABLE QUALITY HEALTHCARE !

The problem with McCain is the same as it has always been. He believes in reaching across the aisle. Democrats do not do that, but there's John and the other RINOs always meeting the other side half way. That's why the country keeps ratcheting to the left. We will never return to smaller government with the likes of Juan.

That said, I will compliment McCain for being a fairly reliable Republican vote. He's certainly been more reliable over the years than the likes of Collins and MurCOWski, but he's completely out of touch with middle America. We don't think the country is going the right direction, and Trump was not elected to reach across the aisle!

Sadly, too many Republicans still don't have a clue. The centrists are despised as much if not more than the Democrats. I dream of a day when they are all primaried out of office.

I am baffled as to why Trump has not already done this! He really doesn’t have Congressional support in most cases and doesn’t seem to care, so why not just let them have a taste of what Americans are getting? How much more could they hate him?

McCain deserves the medicine others get, not that reserved for HIM and the EXEMPT,...

Yeah. Lets's see how many people on Obamacare can be treated at the Mayo Clinic for brain cancer as McSleeze was ( let alone be treated for brain cancer at all ).

He’s more interested in adherence to idiotic senate processes,”working across the aisle” etc then giving the long suffering American people relief. A small, petty, self important dangerous man.

Like I said on the other thread.

I am sure John "Nothing to fear from Obama" McCain is fine with saving his partners legacy.

He is an enemy operative working the Democrats from the beginning.

No wonder he threw the 2008 election.

Sarah Palin said they should campaign in Michigan more, he responded "Nah".

In 2016, guess who went to Michigan in October and guess who won Michigan.

It is almost as if you care and try you just might succeed.

Something McCain and nearly all the rest of The GOP know nothing about >:(

” with a solution that increases competition, lowers costs, and improves care for the American people. “

The “solution” is a free market. The problem is government involvement.

Hence, he should be willing to vote for a clean repeal.

However, he obviously thinks gov is the answer to everything.

As a federal govt employee since 1971 without a break (active duty, then contractor) I’ve learned you have to let things fail when there is not a command structure consensus.

Example: You have to let the twin towers turn to a pile of rubble and have 3000 dead Americans happen before the people push congress and the executive branch to do anything about a known threat.

The PEOPLE (voters) want fedgov mommy and daddy to care for them and they have to be spanked into reality that’s not how the world works.

You have to bite on the leather belt, let it fail and people will have to die.
