Never in history has there been an NCAA investigation like the one that is (still) ongoing at the University of North Carolina. Now, six years after the initial investigation began, it appears that the school will finally have its day in NCAA Court on August 14th.
The outcome will almost certainly have a huge impact on UNC and on college athletics one way or the other.
The basic premise of the investigation is this: During a period that might have been as long as 18 years (!!) dating from 1993, numerous Carolina athletes were involved in sham classes in the African and Afro-American studies department.

UNC is a cash cow for the NCAA.
I will hazard a guess that little more than a slap on the wrist will be administered.

... numerous Carolina athletes were involved in sham classes in the African and Afro-American studies department. Isn't every class in this department a "sham class?" LOL.

To UNC’s credit, they are the 1st university to ever find a practical use for an African American Studies department.

I keep hearing that cheating is the only way to have a championship men’s athletic program. If UNC gets only a slap on the wrist, then does that not prove this to be true?

I guess that depends on whether one wants to have a career after graduation, or prefers to work on a garbage truck.

I guess we shouldn’t mention that African-American Studies is a sham class no matter the university..

That has been true for the better part of 3 decades, IMO.

Major revenue-generating college sports like football and basketball are academic frauds from top to bottom.
When does the entire NCAA get "hammered" ... to use the term right from this headline?

I’m sure this doesn’t happen in other universities.

Minority status is an industry unto itself, and would employ these unemployables (funded by the government/taxpayers, since the private sector has little use for them - how many “diversity officers” can companies hire?).
Without government hiring, and hiring in companies dependent on government contracts (where racial quotas are demanded), black unemployment would be north of 75%. When municipalities give tax breaks to companies, the racial quota is often part of the deal.

“African-American Studies” is a means to pretend blacks have a college education, in an economy where that is a requirement for jobs like policemen, military officers, etc.

Any department with the word “Studies” in it, is a sham.

This violation extends back to Dean Smith's tenure as coach. IIRC he helped start the program.
UNCheat should be vacating all games, titles included, back to at least 1993.
