President Trump is talking to Senator Ted Cruz and others about what they would do differently as Attorney General, should Jeff Sessions resign, as reports indicate.
White House sources also report President Trump was truthful when he made comments expressing buyers remorse over appointing Jeff Sessions to the role. Trump staffers believe Sessions, Donald Trump Jr, and Rohrabacher aide Paul Behrends were unfairly scapegoated due to the left-wing Russia narrative.
In addition, a replacement for special prosecutor Bob Mueller is being acitvely discussed as the President weighs the decision to fire the Rosenstein-appointed prosecutor. Many within the Trump camp see Mueller as acting in bad faith with the investigation due to partisanship, and are urging the appointment of a truly independent alternative.
Facing criticism as a political witch hunt by many, Bob Mueller has hired a whos who of liberal activists as his team of prosecuting attorneys. Research on Mullers prosecutors is being conducted for the administration by Chuck Johnsons team. Finally, top Trump donors are funding their own research operation independent of the White House in order to push back against the medias fake Russia narrative conspiracy theory.
I hear ya. Sessions was my Senator for many years. Never met him but seem to know how he ticks. I said at the beginning that Sessions would not be a pitbull for Trump and would be a cautious rules-based straight arrow as he has always been. I never thought he was the best fit for AG. Trump should have put him somewhere else. Sessions is a good man but if Trump is not happy with him he should fire him and move on. Trump acts so impotent on things like this. He is the POTUS.
Cruz could not be confirmed in a million years.
I say that is a good thing.<<<
LOL....The hand-wringing #HateCruz trolls will be on you in.....3-2-1....watch ‘em
“... dual citizenship.”
You’re ignorant.
It will take 6 months to get a new AG confirmed at this rate.
Trump cannot fire Mueller as there would be too much political heat. BUT if non-recused AG could and toss Rosenstein w/ him for allowing Mueller to created a biased team.
I look for new almost confirmed new FBI Dir Wray to can McCabe in short order.
And there you have it! Sessions went into defilade as soon as that moron, ex-comedian (and not a good one) Al Franken questioned his truthfulness. Why any Republican or conservative would give one flying f**k what Al Franken says is beyond me.
This would be the Deep State’s absolute worst nightmare come true.
So was Obama and he is a Muslim.
Cruz isn’t a Muslim.
A new AG, Cruz or not, can knock heads like Sessions can’t or won’t. It is a good play.
I just read on The_Donald that even Mike Cernovich is right more often than Prosobiec. And very few of Cernovich’s scoops pan out.
If no, then you are correct I am ignorant.
If yes, you are the ignorant one.
Fire the special counsel, immediately. If Rosenstein objects, fire him too.
Criminalizing politics will be the end of the republic.
I say that is a good thing
I have to agree. Cruz is the smartest Senator by far. Trump would do well to take his advice.
I’m kind of surprised that I, too, am comfortable with Cruz assisting Trump in this. I believe Trump can trust Ted to be mission-faithful and a strong leader here. Before Trump came along, Cruz was the Senate’s “kick over the apple cart” firebrand on a host of conservative issues.
“I’m not sure throwing Sessions under the bus is a good idea.”
Sessions threw Trump under the bus. The Justice Department is being run by Obama/Hillary when it comes to investigating the collusion hoax. You can guess the end result.
Darn good point.
“Many within the Trump camp see Mueller as acting in bad faith with the investigation due to partisanship, and are urging the appointment of a truly independent alternative.”
May I suggest Miguel Estrada?
I nominate Alberto Gonzales if he is on board with the immigration issue.
Trump needs to have a private long conversation with Sessions and both need to examine the best way forward so that the Americans who voted for Trump have the agenda they voted for happen.
Cruz is a reliable vote in the Senate. I hate to lose him there.
