Turkish Education Minister İsmet Yılmaz has said a new national school curriculum will exclude evolution theory but will include the concept of jihad, or holy war, as part of Islamic law in textbooks.
Speaking during a press conference to introduce the new school curriculum in Ankara on Tuesday, Yılmaz said: “Jihad is an element in our religion; it is in our religion… The duty of the Education Ministry is to teach every deserving concept correctly. It is also our job to correct things that are wrongly perceived, seen or taught.”

I misread the final word of the headline. I thought the word was “Berkeley.” At this point, that’s actually believable.

I believe God created the universe including mankind. Regardless, why wouldn’t schools teach evolution theory? If nothing else, it would be important for a Creationist to understand evolution and vice versa. For those decrying this move by Turkey, the evolutionists are sometimes just as inflexible and intolerant to different theories in our schools.

We went on a Med cruise last summer and we stopped Ephesus. The guide was very proud of the fact that Turkey had a secular government. He was proud that the military stopped Islamic rule multiple times in the past.

They have a writing system that uses Latin characters. I am waiting to read that it will be abolished for Arabic script. It is a matter of time.
Right. We don’t teach jihad, but we should teach the truth about Islam. It is NOT a religion of peace.
What I’m saying is, schools should teach. People should know what major religions believe.

Creationism was responsible for Christian Europe becoming a scientific powerhouse.
Why?
Because the great early scientists were almost all Christian, or at least theistic.
They realized if there was a Creator, then they could explore His creation.
Having said that, Islam is quite anti-science. Their attitude is “good enuf for Mo, good enuf for moi.”
To be fair, a large segment of the American Right will applaud (or if not applaud, certain not disapprove of) the “no evolution” curriculum.
