Would he support common sense gun control? Wray wont say
Testifying July 12 before the Senate Judiciary Committee, President Donald Trumps FBI Director nominee Christopher Wray said he wouldnt rule out supporting a universal background check bill, non-committedly saying hes review it and make an assessment based on the circumstances.
Wray, during a full day of confirmation hearing testimony, was questioned by Connecticuts Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a longtime gun control supporter, about his views on firearms laws.
Would you support common sense measures to stop gun violence? Blumenthal asked, implying that he has a clue what common sense means, especially in reference to firearms and firearms legislation.

>>Would he support common sense gun control? <<
What does “support” even mean (much less ‘common sense’ gun control).
The FBI’s job is to enforce laws on the books. Support is not part of their charter.
Common sense gun control:
Hold on with both hands.
Aim.
Slowly squeeze the trigger.
There have been dozens of stories about Trump ready to turn left on us...and so far just about everyone has been Fake News. I’ll put this one right up there.
In this case he gave an answer to a hypothetical question that has no relevance to the present state of gun politics...the bottom line is that NOTHING advancing gun control is going to get through this Congress and probably not the next Congress, even if Trump wanted it. In this case, since he figures the issue is dead, why give the Dems some free meat. Just give a useless, cryptic, answer that means nothing...which is what he did.
Maybe I am missing something, but isn’t the FBI director in the executive branch while legislation comes from the legislative branch?
Blumenthal may as well have asked Wray about his position on ‘a woman’s right to choose’. That has about the same degree of relevance to the job of FBI Director, as ‘common sense gun control’ does.
Such questions are not within the purview of that position.
Bloomie’s notion of “common sense” means “let’s disarm all those deplorables who voted for Trump”.
Well, sure.
But I gave my own definition.
Sadly, it doesn’t keep assclowns like “little dick” bloomenthal from asking irrelevant questions that don’t pertain to the job at hand.
“Hmmmm. A question from “little dickey” bloomenthal about “common sense” gun issues. Now if that ain’t a “loaded” question.”
Dickey “crater face” Blumenthal, the face in the Senate that redefines butt ugly. I think the cartoonist that gave us “Beavis and Butthead” used Blumenthal’s “likeness” when creating the character Beavis!
“Maybe I am missing something, but isnt the FBI director in the executive branch while legislation comes from the legislative branch?”
Well, Wray seems to think that the FBI is “an independent agency,” when in truth it’s part of the Executive Branch and that like Comey, he’s not independent of the reach of the President.
“The FBIs job is to enforce laws on the books. Support is not part of their charter.”
Well, we do have this notion that it’s real name is the Federal Bureau of Matters!
you mean NONE of the what? 50,000 or so gun laws on the books already are ‘common sense’ gun laws?
That's a different question. Three strikes? Sentence enhancers for using a firearm to commit a felony? Do away with parole? I might be able to get behind these "common sense" measures.
Purty sure more than 50% of them don’t conform to MY definition of common sense.
The Federal Bureau of Matters
mine either, but the point is we have a gazillion laws on the books already but the left act like we have none- always calling for more more more and doing so under the guise that NONE of the current laws are ‘common sense’
LOL! It’s like the socialist keeping at it. “We learned from our ‘mis-steps’ during the last attempt so we KNOW we have it ‘right’ this time.” Never works out that way does it.
The director's job is to investigate crimes and turn it over to the justice department for prosecution.
