California Requires Solar Panels on All Homes and Windmills on All Farms

The California Senate Majority Leader Kevin de León has introduced a new bill that would mandate the Golden State get all of its electricity from renewable sources by 2045. This replaces a law that was passed in 2016 that dictated that renewable energy sources be 50% of all electricity produced by 2030. This bill moves that requirement up to 2025 with the 50% edict and establishes the new 100% standard 20 years later.

What has not been widely discussed in the press – and buried in the details of the bill – is that all new homes and all homes sold must have solar panels as their source of energy. All apartment buildings with more than four units must install solar panels by 2025, and all commercial and office buildings must do the same. As for farms, they must commit 25% of their acreage to windmills.

What do you want to bet that this will turn out to be yet another scam along the lines of carbon credits? If your property is unsuited for solar or wind, you’ll be required to buy “credits” from a solar farm or wind farm, and guess who’s already lined up to line their pockets from this.

The headline is false. First, the article is about a law that has been proposed, not passed and signed. Second, the article says the requirement would apply to new houses and houses that are sold, excluding houses that don’t change hands.

I think the proposed law is a very bad idea ... but dangit, why can’t people just say things that are factually accurate?

AP and Reuters are reporting minor parts of a Macron interview with Le Journal de Dimanche but, if you google translate the piece, it sure sounds like Macron & his fanatical environment guy Hulot think they are clever enough to talk Trump into staying in the Paris Accord.
I hope not.
it always seemed odd Macron invited Pres Trump to Bastille Day:

Macron: “He understood the meaning of my approach, especially the link between global warming and terrorism. He told me that he would try to find a solution in the coming months,” the head of state said. Sunday in the JDD...

Nicolas Hulot approves the strategy of Emmanuel Macron
The Minister of Ecological and Solidarity Transition Nicolas Hulot welcomes the implication of Emmanuel Macron in this struggle with Donald Trump. “I was a little surprised that the president invited him [to July 14].” In a rather primal way, I rather want to dismiss it, but it is much more relevant to put it back in the game, “Said Nicolas Hulot during an interview with Ouest-France this Sunday...
“I have a feeling of cold anger towards this decision” of the American withdrawal, he deplores on a daily basis. “Once we said that, I share with Emmanuel Macron a reality: if we only discuss with people with whom we agree, things do not progress,” summarized Nicolas Hulot who “Confident” for the continuation of the climate fight.

Somebody had better be in the battery business, ‘cause 100% of power from solar and wind will not work without ‘em.

No salesman has shown me a cost to benefit analysis over 25 years where panels will actually save me money versus just using gas and normal power.

(Not talking about having my neighbors subsidize them for me)

Is it satire?

The bill number is SB-584 from the article above.

Also from this article, a companion bill, SB-350:

I didn’t have to read fine print. The difference between your headline and the first sentence are enough. There is a huge (not as huge in CA) difference between “requiring”(already law) and “introducing”(someone thinks it should be law). Before you start reading between the lines, read the lines first.

Hey, I didn’t write it. LOL! But yeah, it sure looks like a scare tactic header but, knowing how the calibfornia law makers work, it might just pass. After all, it’s for muvver erf.

By coincidence, do you think a few of the legislators or their buddies are in the solar/wind business?

Of course. That's what establishment cronyism is all about. It's why they hate President Trump and his efforts to end it.

Well, for solar, you just need a bunch of flashlights at night. ;-)

“... This might lead to innovation, if they can overcomes certain laws of physics.”

And do not mind the loss of a substantial portion of the population of Golden Eagles as well as millions on millions of song birds, to say nothing of the uncountable loss of bats and the corresponding dramatic increase in the insect populations ...

A Democratic member of the Senate told us “We cannot wait any longer to save the planet. The time is now.” We asked him about the economic effect of the bill. He stated, “This will be a huge economic stimulus for California. Now all my family members who are here as undocumented workers can get a job. It will take the burden off me of supporting them. Who do you think is going to climb on all those roofs and install those solar panels?”

Why don't people read the article before responding? FR needs a check box that says: "I didn't want to bother to read the article, but it's OK to waste everybody else's time by posting an uninformed reply." Facebook generation is ruining FR.
