U.S. Senator John McCain will remain in Arizona next week to recuperate from a medical procedure that removed a 2-inch (5-cm) blood clot above his left eye, his office announced in a statement on Saturday.
It was unclear how McCain's absence might affect a crucial Senate vote on legislation to dismantle and replace Obamacare, with Republicans so divided that the absence of a single "yes" vote could doom the healthcare bill.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I read the article...why wait until now...this is a large clot and should have been taken out sooner than now...

They didn’t say if it was subcutaneous or subdural or what.
I wish they would remove McCain, so Arizona can recuperate.
Since this will be dismissed by the MSM as “no big deal”, perhaps the Senator should be flown up to see Dr Lisa Bardack in Chappaqua for a clean bill of health.

Smells like a well-timed Deep State ploy.
His worst melanoma facial surgery was extensive and might have altered circulation enough on that side of his face to benignly encourage a local clot to form. But tumors sometimes encourage blood clotting and the fact some pathology is pending leaves a recurrence as a theoretical possibility.

Traditionally, A Senator on the other side would abstain. Perhaps Rand Paul could do this, if he couldn’t vote “aye.” There was a time when Senators acted like ladies and gentlemen, while vigorously representing their states and having honest differences with each other.

The article said it was removed via a minimally invasive craniotomy, which, if accurate, would mean the clot was inside the skull. I’m the wrong kind of MD to trust my expertise on the details, but subdural hematomas come to mind, a clot beneath the outermost of the 3 layers of membranes between skull and brain. They can occur as delayed sequelae to a fall or other local head trauma and can be serious if not treated in time. Reagan had a subdural hematoma removed while President and did fine. If there were no history of trauma than other potential causes, like past tumors, rise as possibilities. Hillary’s transverse sinus venous thrombosis also crosses my mind, but the described location doesn’t seem to fit that.
Oh that this close brush with death will cause him to repent. That would be wonderful. It should happen.
