House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was released from ICU on Wednesday after nearly a week, Fox News confirmed.
Scalise, R-La., has been treated at MedStar Washington Hospital since June 14, when he and four others were shot during a congressional baseball practice, and remains in “serious” condition at the facility.
Scalise was returned to the ICU last week after contracting an infection from his gunshot wounds.
Scalise, prior to going back to the ICU on July 5, was listed in “fair condition,” but the hospital downgraded that to “serious” last week after infection concerns and a subsequent surgery. According to people close to the matter, Scalise faces at least two more surgeries, which have yet to be scheduled.
“Congressman Steve Scalise underwent surgery for the management of infection. He tolerated the procedure well,” MedStar Washington released on behalf of the Scalise family after his July 6 surgery. “He remains in serious condition. We will provide updates as appropriate.”

All that talk of killing Trump, stolen elections, and other fictional high crimes and misdemeanors was bound to show dividends sooner or later.
I know I get exercised when folks talk of Rush building folks up, but he never advocates violence.
People on the right expect to get restoration at the ballot box. People on the left love elections only as long as they win. Then they go postal!
I sure hope this guy makes a full recovery.
That’s tossed around a lot, but you never fully recover from something this serious. He’ll probably have lingering issues, if only pain, the rest of his life.
Scalise needs to be moved to a hospital other than the one he is in!
He has a long road ahead of him
Now that he’s back out of ICU, I hope he, as the member with the most current personal experience in. healthcare, records a message to his colleagues in the Senate, to redeem HIS promise and repeal Obamacare. That, when released as the first public words from him since the shooting, would shift some votes. And he’s likely up to delivering that audio.
