Nearly 1 in 10 Americans have severe anger issues and access to guns
Washington Post ^ | 7/08/17 | Christopher Ingraham

Roughly 22 million Americans -- 8.9 percent of the adult population-- have impulsive anger issues and easy access to guns. 3.7 million of these angry gun owners routinely carry their guns in public. And very few of them are subject to current mental health-based gun ownership restrictions.

Those are the key findings of a new study by researchers from Harvard, Columbia and Duke University. "Anger," in this study, doesn't simply mean garden-variety aggravation. It means explosive, uncontrollable rage, as measured by responses to the National Comorbidity Survey Replication in the early 2000s. It is "impulsive, out of control, destructive, harmful," lead author Jeffrey Swanson of Duke University said in an interview. "You and I might shout. These individuals break and smash things and get into physical fights, punch someone in the nose."

Angry people with guns are typically young or middle-aged men, according to Swanson's research. They're likely to be married, and to live in suburban areas. In a recent op-ed, Swanson and a co-author point to Craig Stephen Hicks, a North Carolina man who "had frightened neighbors with his rages and had a cache of fourteen firearms" and who shot three Muslim students earlier this year, as a quintessential example of an enraged gun owner.

I often wonder, though. My personal opinion is that “open carry” just makes you the “first target” but I recognize that perhaps a violent crime may be deterred by a bad guy seeing an “open carry”. I imagine the risk pans out but I still don’t do it. In Texas it is probably accepted better. Not here. In fact there was an article about someone swatting an open carry in NoVa.

How many of them have access to cars?

Road rage kills.

Striking pedestrians and bicyclists kills.

Suicide in a car kills (inhalation in a garage or into a wall or off a cliff).

In the 1970s the Weather Underground spinoff from SDS said that 25 million Americans (their estimate of the time) would be unsuitable for political re-education and have to be killed.

And their leader consulted with Barack Obama.

Much darker forces at work in this country than merely a man owning a gun as rightfully guaranteed by the US Constitution.

Roughly 22 million Americans -- 8.9 percent of the adult population-- have impulsive anger issues and easy access to guns.

And the problem is...?

These dip-stick faux "professors" from useless Ivy League colleges come up with these stupid ass surveys of what are probably less than 1000 persons, from which they extrapolate the mental condition, economic status and amount of property possession for 22 million?

Sure...and I'll file this crap right along with the other crap from the likes of the Brady bunch and the Bloomberg dummies and the Mayors Against Guns...you know, the usual retards and nut ball hideouts.

They are correct in one sense of their asinine assumptions:

I am a gun owner.

I am angry.

I'm not angry because I own guns...rather:

I am angry because I must own guns because I live in a society that offers little protection for me on an individual basis, therefore making it necessary for me to bear arms (as is my right, see US Constitution, 2nd Amendment thereto and Bill of Rights, further elucidating) against those that the liberal mindset has determined are not to be blamed for having the mindset to excuse their actions in attempting to take what is mine.

So piss on your stupid study...I have guns, I'm angry...but I use them only in self-defense.

Just don't make me have to use them.

Pretty damned simple solution, eh?

B.S., ‘studies’ such as this one, make me VERY angry.

But I use that anger constructively...at the gun shop and the firing range. :)

Remove Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York, LA, Oakland, Detroit and Philadelphia from the equation and what do the numbers reduce to?

Well! There's an obvious solution!

Psychological testing for all prospective and current gun owners!

Furthermore, the desire to own a gun is positive proof of anger issues, causing an immediate rejection of the application to own or keep a gun!

It's just Common Sense Gun Control!

Craig Stephen Hicks, a North Carolina man who "had frightened neighbors with his rages and had a cache of fourteen firearms" and who shot three Muslim students earlier this year, as a quintessential example of an enraged gun owner.

Okay. Let's do the math together, shall we, Christopher?

Using the formula provided, that would equate to 66 million muslims being killed by all those Craig Stephen Hickses out there.

Is that what the study found, Christopher?

... and in a related study, nearly half of Americans have below average IQs and access to the internet.

Like...in Chicago?

Are they suggesting that a certain minority group should be forbidden from having guns?

Or just Democrats, like the guy who shot Congressman Scalise?
