Fueled by one of the worlds largest tourism industries, Nevada is preparing to do the same on July 1. A May report published by Gov. Brian Sandovals task force on marijuana estimates that up to 63 percent of recreational buyers will be tourists.
Everything we know shows that millennials are very pro-marijuana, and thats the new marketing push, said Nevada state Sen. Tick Segerblom, a longtime marijuana advocate. This is a game-changer for Las Vegas and tourism here as far as Im concerned.
Amsterdam on steroids, he added.

He didn’t say it was fine for vets, he said it was fine for him. A nation that dictates how people spend their time doesn’t deserve to be a nation.
Ever try to convince a FRiend they don't really believe in states' rights, small government, or the Fourth Amendment? Looks and sounds a lot like this thread.
So did I and many others here. You don't hold the moral authority around here buddy!
You drug warriors are much like those who supported Prohibition back in the 1920s-early 30s, stomping all over the Constitution in your quest to "purify" America from the "evils" of alcohol and weed, wrapping yourself in the flag while persecuting fellow Americans.
This country has enough problems with the effects of alcohol and its related destruction of families and ultimate deaths, why do you use that as an argument to support another drug that has no benefits to society whatsoever?
Follow the money dude, all the arguments in favor of legalizing marijuana have come from highly paid lobbyists who have a monetary vested interest in it becoming legal.
There's not a medical professional I know (and my family is filled with them) that agrees that marijuana has any medical benefits whatsoever.
I have no idea what your medical condition is that makes you think that marijuana makes you feel better, but if marijuana helps you, then perhaps you should lobby to legalize medically approved heroin. That would make you feel even better.............
Bravo!
Was ending alcohol Prohibition a mistake?
Follow the money dude, all the arguments in favor of legalizing marijuana have come from highly paid lobbyists who have a monetary vested interest in it becoming legal.
I haven't been paid a dime.
There's not a medical professional I know (and my family is filled with them) that agrees that marijuana has any medical benefits whatsoever.
The Institute of Medicine has reported several.
The Constitution grants the federal government no authority whatsoever over intrastate drug matters.
If it has zero benefit, then why does Marinol exist? (Besides the obvious answer that it exists to make small amounts of people lots of money for synthesizing that which exists naturally).
If it has no effect then why are there ample examples of people with constant seizures, or Parkinson's, or any number of other maladies, who try all available medicines with little effect, but who improve when they try marijuana?
We HAVE medically approved heroin. The most common form being Oxy though there are many other. And they’re all highly addictive, and a big part of why we’ve got a major heroin problem in this country.
See that’s part of the stupidity of modern drug laws. We hand out heroin like freakin candy, cry to the wind over all these addicts we get, and refuse to let people use non-addictive marijuana even though it’s proven to be an effective painkiller. Instead we invent a new drug specifically to tackle opioid induced constipation.
So what State and Congressional district do you represent?
Care to disclose all the contributors to your recent campaigns and if any of them are lobbyists for the marijuana legalization industry?
"Ample" examples? How about those who try marijuana WITHOUT any noticeable effects? You forgot to mention those......
Until marijuana is peer reviewed and proven beyond the shadow of a doubt to be the magic drug you are claiming rather than a highly compensated lobbyist funded attempt to influence our elected officials to legalize it, it's just a hippy's dream come true........
How did stoners destroy the country?
Are you calling for the prohibition of alcohol too? If not you are a hypocrite.
You might want to research on how much of marijuana usage is indeed attributed to Marijuana Use Disorder.........Current estimate is 30 per cent.
As a side note, all the proponents of marijuana use fail to mention the negative effects on the lungs of those who smoke it. Why? Because there have been very little studies in that realm since until now, marijuana has been illegal.......
Just curious discostu, what are your opinions on smoking?
Compared to opioid drugs which have a nearly 100% addiction rate. And given that we now write most opioid scrips under the assumption you’ll be on it for the rest of your (now shortened) life, which makes addiction basically a guarantee. No matter how you slice it our addiction to the constant prescription of opioid painkillers is signing a lot of people up for problems, problems they don’t even know they’re signing up for because a lot of folks don’t actually know when they’re being handed a scrip for vicodin or fentanyl what that actually is.
Actually there’ve been lots of studies on the lung effects, unfortunately they’re always structured poorly. They do a cigarette to joint comparison which joints lose on badly largely because of usage method, and ignore the fact that joint smokers don’t smoke as many joints as cigarette smokers smoke cigarettes. And if you want to talk about lung problems as a side effect of painkiller medication let’s talk respiratory depression. No matter how you slice it when we jump painkiller straight from NSAIDs to opioids we’re skipping an effective and much less harmful solution.
I believe in living your life. If you want to smoke, smoke.
“...why do you use that as an argument to support another drug that has no benefits to society whatsoever?”
As someone who began using cannabis as medicine in 2015, I can assure you that statement is incorrect. I replaced multiple big pharma drugs with cannabis after taking them as prescribed for 20+ years & my quality of life is immensely improved.
I lost 75 lbs of fat since using cannabis vs big phama meds since Feb 2015. I’m 1000% more active & feel free of depression & anxiety. The quality of my work has improved & I’m busier now than I’ve been in 10 years.
If you don’t like cannabis, fine. Don’t use it. But don’t tell those of us who know better that there isn’t any benefits to cannabis. Reefer Madness was pure propaganda & millions of people who use cannabis, work their jobs, pay their bills & raise their families know better. That’s why 71% of voters in Florida decided medical cannabis should be available to people who can BENEFIT from it.
“There’s not a medical professional I know (and my family is filled with them) that agrees that marijuana has any medical benefits whatsoever.”
Why would they? They aren’t allowed by federal law to study it!
That was a false argument, how many of those 71 per centers actually used it for medicinal purposes as opposed to those who wanted it for recreational purposes?
There is very little criteria that a family friendly doctor has to follow in order to write a prescription for marijuana.......One of my best friends has such a doctor and he has no medical need for the prescription.............
And because of this abuse of medical integrity, he is also free to grow it in his back yard................
So tell me Stickman, how prevalent do you think this fraud is in comparison to the opioid epidemic going on in this country?
Was ending alcohol Prohibition a mistake?
Follow the money dude, all the arguments in favor of legalizing marijuana have come from highly paid lobbyists who have a monetary vested interest in it becoming legal.
I haven't been paid a dime.

OH, so when you said "all the arguments in favor of legalizing marijuana have come from highly paid lobbyists" you meant "all the arguments that legislators hear". You didn't make that clear. I don't know how you'd know that, and it sounds doubtful - where have these vested interests been hiding for the past 40-plus years?
There's not a medical professional I know (and my family is filled with them) that agrees that marijuana has any medical benefits whatsoever.
The Institute of Medicine has reported several.
I haven’t been stoned on any illegal drug or prescription medication, or had more than 2 alcoholic beverages in a sitting, in nearly 30 years. I’m a Bible-believing, choir singing Christian. I’m a conservative-leaning libertarian who wants the power of government to be used only for what it MUST for a civil society to function, and not to enforce some individual’s interpretation of morality.
I just dislike dictators of any level or stripe.
You believe what you want to believe.
