A professor at the University of Delaware has declared that Otto Warmbier was a spoiled, white, rich, clueless American college student who got exactly what he deserved when he recently ended up comatose and then dead at the age of 22 after serving part of a lengthy prison sentence in North Korea.
The taxpayer-funded professor, Katherine Dettwyler, made her comments on Wednesday on Facebook and in the comments section of a National Review article.

Ah, she's a dem. Setting the ground to run for office by showing she's tough enough to eff this and eff that.
Yes, he was stupid but he didn’t deserve to die.
Nice quote wherever it originated.
Why? Was he special?
Innocent people die brutally every day in North Korea. It isn't a fun place. Maybe they should teach this in school.
When a foreigner (unless they have Diplomatic Immunity) enters the United States, they are subject to our laws and our justice system.
And when a foreigner enters a North Korea or any other nation that severely lacks Due Process, that foreigner should not expect to receive Due Process or be afforded any rights they may have in a constitutional republic.
Otto willingly placed himself under the jurisdiction of Pyongyang’s dictatorship and that was a fatal mistake.
The picture on post #6 tells it all.
‘he only deserved what the North Korean justice system afforded he or any other person.’
one other thing, Kathie...on this website we use pronouns properly; that would be ‘afforded him’...
any other pearls of wisdom you wish to impart...?
From the article:
University of Delaware students say Dettwlyer is a terrible professor at Rate My Professors.
She is way too opinionated to the point where she becomes unprofessional, one student advises. Its her opinion or no opinion and she wont be afraid to express it even if it may offend half the class, warns another student. She belittles students when they ask questions without her preferred terminology, counsels a third student.
Me: She sounds like a lovely woman. I wouldn’t, willingly, be in any close proximity of someone this hateful and toxic.
In the article, she is quoted as such.
Obviously, schools need to teach that when you travel outside the United States, that the Bill of Rights does not come with you.
Was he or his family particularly rich? I didn’t know that.
‘that foreigner should not expect to receive Due Process or be afforded any rights they may have in a constitutional republic.’
why are you opining that Otto expected any such treatment...? you’re assuming something not brought into evidence...
no one with an ounce of decency would say such things for the public to read...we can think such things and we can mutter among ourselves but to let it go on Facebook?....inhumane...
This...and a one way ticket to North Korea.
“why are you opining that Otto expected any such treatment...? youre assuming something not brought into evidence...”
Perhaps Otto expected constitutional protections and Due Process while in Pyongyang, or maybe he was very much aware of the risk he was assuming when he entered North Korea.
OK...I’m confused. Which one is the dog?
I have lamented his loss, but I chalked it up to him being young, idealistic, and terminally stupid.
It wasn’t important to me what color he was, because I would have been sad if he had been Black, Brown, Red, or Green, for that matter.
What is shocking, is that under circumstances like this, a public official could actually flash to race, as an important factor in this.
I frankly don’t give a damn if he’s was a Republican or a Leftist either. He’s dead Jim. I am sorry for that.
Whatever he was, it makes no difference when he’s dead.
His life terminated. It probably terminated with prejudice.
This ass hat can’t grasp that either.
That should be the anger focus point here. Race? Seriously?
Why can’t they target their unresolved anger at evil scum like Kim Jong Fatboy instead?
Excellent post, says it all.
