Joe Bastardi had this one for a few weeks now if not before. He new the conditions were right for a tropical storm to form in the area.

Looks like Cindy is following a similar track to Rita in 2005. As big as she was, we didn’t get a drop of rain in Dallas.

Our local Tampa fox station has for a week now had a cloud over the Yucatan indicating potential. Joe’s not the only one.

Doesn’t look like it’ll be much of a wind event. Rain event ... sure. But the Houston population center will be spared from a TS Allison repeat. It looks like Houston will be on the clean side of the storm, and Cindy is a very irregular storm with not much going on the clean side at all.

Celia formed in the Gulf in 1970 as a Cat One. It tore the hell out of Corpus Christi to be a Cat 1.

Just a rainy day, unless you're west of landfall in which case break out the sunblock.

Rita was the evacuation "death march" here in the Houston area. Too many people tried to evacuate in the middle of a hundred degree summer. Between heat stokes as cars ran out of gas due to freeways that were like parking lots (you could walk as fast as you could drive) and a bus catching fire and killing the occupants, I think the "evacuation death toll" was around 100. Ironically, Rita missed Houston and went northeast. Many of the evacuees evacuated themselves right into the areas where the storm hit. Of course, this was shortly after Katrina and hurricane panic was high after that one.

I's virtually impossible to evacuate the 4th largest city in America. There's nowhere for that many people to go. When Ike hit a few years later (and it was a direct hit), far fewer people evacuated.

When Katrina hit, a third of NOLA migrated to Houston. Unfortunately most of them stayed ...

Are the warmists peeing down their leg yet? They so desperately want a big hurricane season they can blame on “climate change.”

The National Hurricane Center has been treating this like a hurricane, even before it was a tropical storm. They had all the maps and junk just like it was already named.

That is unusual. They have never done that I can recall..............

What do you make of T.S. Bret? It was a minimal tropical storm for 12 hours in a region that typically doesn’t get tropical storms. Did the NHC name Bret just to get the storm count up?

It’s been drizzling in Mobile all day long. I’m pretty sure were all going to die.
