At 69 years old, I doubt my father remembers the conversation we had the afternoon of my high school graduation, but I think about it every Fathers Day.

I forgot to mention, that the Best Dad ever is a US Marine. Awesome pics!
Thanks for sticking around. I mean, like in my life, I said sheepishly. I know you didnt have to.
His brown eyes flashed from confused to bemused to offended. I decided it was probably a good thing that he had just finished a calming glass of whiskey.

....,,,,,
His father probably doesn’t remember because it probably didn’t happen. Regardless of race, how many teenagers say to a parent ‘thanks for not bolting on us kids and on Mom and leaving me poor and fatherless’.
But, it makes for an interesting introductory storyline to move into his point
God bless you and your family.
Happy Fathers’ Day.
Or be a positive role model not involved in crime.
While castigating people for believing the stereotype, she pretty much shows that it, like most stereotypes, is based on a reality.
Prior to the “Great Society” Negroes were moving into the northern industrial scene and replicating the story of immigrant groups. They were migrating from the barren South and moving up the ladder. Then LBJ stopped that process, partly because it was beginning replicate political phenomena, too, in that LBJ et al understood that as the class prospered they would produce a plurality of republican votes. Thus, the Great Society and we will have those (Negroes) voting for us for a hundred years. Make them permanently poor and destroy the family structure leaving them permanently dependent on Democrats.
No, only so many as deemed necessary at any given time.
I am not entirely sure of the import of her words but she did indicate that her mother and father lived at opposite ends of the suburb.
The writer was all over the place, which is typical for an unfocused liberal/writer. They try to jam too much into what should have been a single focus article, about her father’s devotion to her.
Instead, she made it into an attack on some whites, some of the media, racism, etc. Her message got lost in the BS of her rhetoric.
Bullshit
Again bullshit
You’re both virtue signaling as a reflex cause you can’t help it
We’ve been so brainwashed that we’re all alike
Race is a social construct etc
The black illegitimacy rate in 1962 was 20-25%
The white rate was .5-2%
I was born in 1957
Growing up I knew personally of one illegitimate kid
A country girl from our home county in Mississippi ....Smith....she was scorned and my maternal grandma took her and the little boy in
Eventually her being very pretty a man scooped her up anyhow and adopted the boy as his
White rate is now 20-25% and black rate around 80% but I suspect it’s much higher cause I don’t know any black or mulatto kids with daddies in their lives
Latino rate is 55-60%....good Catholics obviously
Where I live lower class white girls are morbidly obese and have mulatto babies and none marry....
It’s not just welfare....it’s culture
Although now I get to virtue signal too
Illegitimacy in Europe has skyrocketed
South America is worst
Colombia is 84%
When you promote legitimize and praise give single moms and give them access to all sorts of entitlements and help the males see this as a way out of thier responsibility as well as a means for the both parents to make money
You’re right; there is plenty of evidence (in crime stats and school data) to indicate this is absolute nonsense.
The left tries to manufacture “data” that can’t be verified/confirmed/quantified; this is a classic case.
So true; they are attempting to maintain the façade that most black fathers are actually fulfilling the role in all ways but legal marriage, and that is obviously untrue to anyone who interacts with a black population.
They’ll continue throwing nonsense like this around because there are no consequences to fabricating it.
Neither of us said that culture wasn't a contributing issue to the state of things today...it certainly IS today, that is undeniable and, in my opinion, incontestable.
But that isn't the root cause of the problem, as Thomas Sowell has laid out and backed up with inarguable statistics that bear out the "Great Society" programs as being the root cause that pushed things inexorably in the direction that results in what we see today.
Culture follows what is happening in an environment, IMO.
I have made the point time and time again on this forum that the most destructive and corrosive force in black America today is "Black Culture". The problem the rest of the country has is that the media and other forces have caused it to spill over into other demographics in this country, and that isn't good for anyone.
As you rightfully point out, those statistics on wedlock are appalling. Simply appalling.
The title of the article belied the article itself. It could have been so good, but instead devolved into just another “too many black men are in prison” diatribe.
For me, as a white guy, I’m gratified when I see men, black or white standing up and acting as men.
That means getting married, getting settled, then having kids. That means being a true father for your kids.
I’ve recently come to know a young man, maybe 30. He manages a self-storage facility, and takes great pride in his work. He’s pleasant and talks constantly of his wife and son. He’s married and devoted to them and to serving his customers. He happens to be black.
The kid next door, also happens to be black looks like a total thug. Dreadlocks, tattoos, gold teeth, the works. He’s an anomaly. He goes to college, works two hard jobs, is saving up for a house so he can get married, is extremely pleasant and keeps his music to himself. I’ve never heard loud thumps coming from his car, his or his friends. A really like the kid and hope he does well.
Thank you, friend.
