An attorney for President Trump was adamant on Sunday that the president is not under investigation, despite the presidents tweets this week referring to one as a "witch hunt."
Let me be clear here, said Jay Sekulow, a member of the presidents legal team, on NBC's Meet The Press. The president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction."
On Friday morning, President Trump sent a tweet that seemed to confirm that he was under scrutiny, writing, I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt.
But Sekulow claimed the president wasnt referring to an actual investigation in the message, but instead a news report about one.
The tweet from the president was in response to the five anonymous sources purportedly leaking info to the Washington Post, he said, referring to the Posts report this week that Special Counsel Robert Muellers investigation into Russian interference in the election, now also includes a look at whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice.
He's not afraid of the investigation there is no investigation, Sekulow said, adding, there is not an investigation of the President of the United States, period.
Sekulow on Sunday also acknowledged that the president was fully aware that if in fact he took this action, he would see a lengthening" of the amount of time it would take to get through the Russia investigation if James Comey was removed as FBI director, but still decided to move forward with firing Comey because he "thought it was in the best interest of the American people."
Also on Sunday's Meet The Press, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla, noted that one thing weve learned from the testimony of multiple people now is the president is pretty fired up about this" and doesn't believe that he did anything wrong. The president wants people to say that," he said.
Rubio is a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is doing its own probe into Russian election interference. He maintained that the presidents actions wont prevent any of the investigations from proceeding, and that getting to the bottom of what happened would benefit all involved, including President Trump.
This is is going to move forward, he said. We are going to get the full truth out there. I believe this is the thing that could happen for the president.
Explain to me how Marco is being supportive of Trump? He said the investigations must continue. Tell me why they must continue? When did Democrats insist on investigating Obama the way Marco and other RINOs insist on investigating Trump?
Marco is a poor boy who is owned by big donors. And the big donors want Trump gone.
The Democrat party is he party of “Finding Bigfoot.” They never find evidence but conclude it exsists.
You worry too much about twitter, and you don’t seem to understand what it’s about.
The press twists, bends and lies about everything Trump does or says. No? And you want Trump to stop using that tool which is readily at his fingertips and instead force him to allow everything he comments about to be filtered by the lying enemy?
Not going to happen. Now you suggested he, “lost his footing”. Maybe you should be working for CNN.
Cant understand why Hannity has his best bud whoraldo..
I agree. Hannity must have a soft spot in his heart as he was also friends with Bob Bechtel..
With the millions and millions of cell phones with cameras and recording capability in the world: If there was a Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, or proof of Trump and the Russian collusion, we would be seeing it on YouTube and ABCNNBCBS 24/7.

“he stuck guns - and by pulling out - that gave Canada, England and japan the courage to do the same thing - altho’ you wouldn’t know it from the press.
Good news, do you have a link showing that Canada, GB and Japan pulled out.
Excellent!
When I'm watching him with my 15 year old son, I can anticipate his bias kicking in to contend with the conservative guest and I mimic his (disgusting) "but, but, but".My son always cracks up.
President Trump should fire Mueller, and Rosenstein, and announce simply that its time to get on with the agenda the People elected him to lead.
No more fooling around, the country cannot afford it.
Comey ,Hillery Clinton and Loretta Lynch should be indicted
for Pay for Play.If Sessions wono’t do it, fire him too.
Take the gloves off.
I DID NOT say because of Trump. I SAID because of the stupid, ignorant, idiot fools in CONGRESS!!
No sir, I'm just trying to be objective and completely straight with that I saw.
Wallace asked if Trump thought Rosenstein has done anything wrong. Sekulow answered, then went on with his constitutional threshold question hypothesis which includes the assumption of Trump being under investigation.
And herein lies the problem. Let's assume that's exactly that Sekulow did. The transition to identifying the Constitutional threshold question and then answering was non existent. Sekulow went on to answer the question without stating what the threshold was and setting the Constitutional context.
At that point I agree with your observation that Chris Wallace literally became unhinged seizing on Sekulow's "under investigation" statement without understanding what it was Sekulow was doing in answering the Constitutional threshold question.
Here's exactly where Sekulow and Wallace were on completely different wavelengths and talking past each other.
Now, watching Sekulow on the other talking head shows he clearly set the context of of his answer which he didn't do on Fox News Sunday. I attribute that to Wallace acting like a liberal attack dog. Still, the burden of setting the context of his answer was on Sekulow, not Wallace. BTW at the end of the interview, Chris Wallace acknowledged that he and Jay Sekulow weren't on the same wavelength for (presumably) most of the interview. Boy were they ever.
That interview was as f'ed up as an interview with two people talking past each other as I've ever seen.
“Now, watching Sekulow on the other talking head shows he clearly set the context of of his answer which he didn’t do on Fox News Sunday. I attribute that to Wallace acting like a liberal attack dog. “
I agree on both counts. Sekulow was much more succinct on the other shows.
OTOH had Wallace given Sekulow the chance, he may have been able to put a bow on his point. It appeared to me any confusion was all on Wallace’s side. When he couldn’t rattle Sekulow, he lost his place on his script, repeated questions and made every other Sunday show appear less biased and more professional.
Spot on. It's really REALLY hard to make George Stephanopolous or anyone on the other talking head shows look less biased and more professional, Chris Wallace managed to do just that.
Great post, thanks for your reply.
Obama, Hillary, DOJ and the intelligence community had a trap set to destroy the Trump empire once she was in office and the Russian collusion story was tattooed to DJT and his empire. This is the truth.. The GOP would have never helped him clear his name and his empire would have been in a trash heap along with his name. Lucky for him, the electoral win derailed that spooky Clintonian plan.
A book will be written on this.........
That show is unwatchable.
