The white Fort Worth police officer who was suspended for 10 days for using excessive force when arresting a black woman and her daughters will appeal the suspension in a hearing Tuesday.

Martin's attorney, Terry Daffron, said she wants access to text messages on city cellphones between the two commanders who were in charge of the internal affairs investigation in the Dec. 21 arrest, which was captured in a video, according to WFAA-TV (Channel 8). She says the texts will show bias against Martin, according to the station.

I do not know why anyone would want to be an LEO in this day and age.
Thank you LBJ and your Great Society.
“Police cameras ain’t real. they’re built for you. Police cameras ain’t real’ LOL
I guarded a semi-abandoned apartment complex in that area. Scarier than the Korean DMZ.
As distasteful as it all might be, that seemed like a severely unnecessary escalation by the cop, not to mention his unprofessional attitude.
Sounds just like the police in Lima, Ohio.
This appears to be poorly handled....or we could be missing some recent history between the individuals. More fodder for the progressives
Like I said before I would not want to be a cop in this day and age.
I watched the “bodycam footage expecting to defend the cop. Boy, was I WRONG!
This cop lost it! He lost his cool. Totally unnecessarily. He started it with the insult to the mom. She got mad, I don’t blame her, and then instead of diffusing the situation he caused.... an “I’m sorry ma’am, I meant no disrespect” or “I’m sorry ma’am, you’re right, I shouldn’t have said that, I apologize.” or “I’m sorry ma’am, you’re right, I was out of line, I apologize.”
This cop needs to be made to watch 36 hours of LIVE PD to see how it’s done.
“As distasteful as it all might be, that seemed like a severely unnecessary escalation by the cop, not to mention his unprofessional attitude.”
Yes he did not make any attempt to de-escalate the situation but he did have a professional attitude. He just wasn’t taking any sh*t. Notice how polite the arrestees became after he threw their azzes in the patrol car. In some ways its the feel good video of the week.
I have to say I agree with you, and I am someone who is always inclined to take the side of the police. The woman is definitely confrontational and obnoxious — and most likely resents having that guy gentrifying her neighborhood — but there are many policeman who would have handled it much better. Perhaps he is new to working that part of town....
Agreed.
I watched it. He did the right thing. He was alone and being attacked by a pride of apes that had no regard for the rules of society. It was quite apparent that “Mom” had raised her children without any regard to the rules of society nor the need to obey the laws of society.
Annie Archy would agree. I always get a smile when I tell a local cop thanks for what you do. Our guys/gals are great.
The cop handled that poorly, if not completely wrong, and deserved to be suspended. In who’s world, besides the cop’s world, is it OK to choke a kid for littering?
He could have easily deescalated the situation...I would not want to be a cop in this day and age.No because you probably would have been shot. heh heh
When was the last time YOU risked YOUR life for Society? LEO, Soldier, Nurse, First Responder? Border Patrol, Correctional Officer, Oath Keeper,
They don’t wrestle folks to the ground in Plano.
