A close friend of President Trump said on Monday that the President is considering firing Robert Mueller, the special counsel who is leading the federal investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Chris Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax Media and a longtime Trump friend, told PBS's Judy Woodruff that Trump is weighing whether to fire Mueller.
"I think he's considering perhaps terminating the special counsel. I think he's weighing that option," Ruddy said on PBS NewsHour.

Here he is back in May when Comey just got fired.

So what turned Rosenstein? I see Senator Warner DU pressuring Rosenstein that the Dems would not confirm any FBI Director that Trump appointed. Warner wanted him to appoint an SC. He may have gotten much more pressure.
“Wikileaks: FBIs Mueller Delivered Highly Enriched Stolen Uranium to Russia in 2009”
Trump is stuck with Mueller. He can’t get rid of him without it getting 100x worse.
A senior White House official confirmed that the president had interviewed Mr. Mueller for the F.B.I. post in the Oval Office the day before Mr. Rosenstein tapped him to be the special counsel in the Russia investigation.Sized him up.
Probably several factors, or sources of pressure, and some we might not even know about. But he made the appointment just a very few days after Trump fired Comey and Rosenstein became fairly controversial in the news.
There was the report that he talked of resigning during the confusion about what part his memo played in the decision to fire Comey. And he was very flustered during that time, and suddenly we had a SC appointed.
The Russian Conspiracy theory is a JOKE. And everyone knows it. We spy on Russia, they Spy on us. We spy and China, they spy on us.
However, Russia did not alter one vote via our voting system last November.
The Democrats are just embarrassed because they lost in such an epic embarrassing fashion. They can't handle the truth. The truth is that the Russians did not switch one vote from Hillary to Trump in the 2016 election. Instead, Trump flew all over the country and won.
Seriously, no average viewer thinks this Russia conspiracy is valid. In fact, it's becoming a joke.
Agree
Wrong
Trump has millions of supporters. We will support him even MORE if he gets rid of Mueller. The Lying Liberal Media is a joke.
“Nixons fate was sealed long before the House voted the Articles of Impeachment.”
Nixon’s fate was sealed because the democrats controlled both houses of congress. Everything else is just noise.
The republicans will never impeach Trump. His approval is above 80% with the republican base.
Trump can do whatever he wants. The media will hyperventilate for a few days and then everybody will just get over it like they have done many times before.
The house never voted on articles of impeachment for Nixon. He resigned.
I agree. Not only should Sessions unrecuse himself, he should fire Rosenstein and Mueller - ASAP.
Thank you.
I sure hope you’re right.
No! End the special prosecutor completely. There is no need for one because not a single iota of evidence exists. Why is there a need for someone to look into wrong doing where there is no known wrong doing?
That is just a fishing expedition. And we don’t want a fishing expedition. The special prosecutor should be fired and the reason should be that there is no evidence to pursue.
Separation of powers means the executive only can fire Mueller. The Legislative branch has no jurisdiction over the Executive branch.
I’m hoping that’s one of the reasons Sessions insisted on an open interrogation - give him a chance to tell the people things the Lefty doesn’t want us to hear and maybe pave the way to getting rid of the fiasco of Mueller...
the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia's efforts.
Sounds ominous. Let's put some names on it.
That's it. All of the intrigue swirling around is enabled by keeping "the investigation vague" on a pretext that disclosing the names of the suspects would taint them, be harmful to their privacy, etc.
The details of contact between "a Russian" and one of the named targets of investigation are reasonably well described in numerous news reports. Not only does the public have a handle on the names, it also has a handle on the contacts.
Sessions was working as a senator, and told BY THE FBI to not bother disclosing those contacts on his disclosure forms.
Carter Page wants to testify. He was unmasked and under FISA warrants. Congress won't let him testify, he opens up the can of worms about the politicization of the FBI under Obama.
Flynn contacts have been cleared as "not criminal" by the FBI. The only FBI criminal investigation open on Flynn, inferred from Comey's testimony, are misleading investigators and maybe perjury. There is no "Russia" there.
Manafort is a little more complicated, but he was cut loose before the primary race was concluded, and I have never heard any allegation of a Manafort campaign action having any connection to Russia.
Comey has been keeping this Russia thing spinning by deliberately dragging his feet on the investigations, leaking to the press, and setting land mines.
