It’s certainly possible to think of yoga as stretching, which has about a fifty year history.
But on the other hand it’s also possible to think of yoga as worshipping Hindu gods, and this has a tradition spanning five thousand years.
Against Christian believers, Hindu gods have less power than a piece of dust has against Mount Everest. But why should pastors keep the religious identity of yoga hidden from church members?
Probably, but not many. At least not on purpose. Not in American yoga though, American yoga is just exercise. Honestly anybody doing regular exercise is already doing yoga even if they don’t know it. Most of the basic calisthenics moves match yoga. Anybody into Pilates that was his whole thing, taking yoga poses and modifying them to maximize core strength.
Like so many things in this world it is what you make it. It’s the difference between eating crackers and transubstantiation. If you want to do stretching oriented exercise with only your own body as the weight go ahead.

It’s the 21st century, nobody is keeping anything hidden. The real question is why should pastors perpetuate ignorance and not bother to see what’s going on in the class. And maybe they should bother to trust their own parishioners, if they say they aren’t worshiping Hindus then they aren’t.
Christmas Trees have pagan origins too. Meanwhile American yoga IS just exercise.
Apparently it’s not possible for anyone to know who or what they might be worshiping during any activity or at any given time. For all any of us know we might be worshiping demons whenever we post on the internet.

I see - what boycotting a church *really* means is something that’s designed to increase revenue for the church. Yeah, makes sense. Good catch.

No it demonstrates REALITY. If I tell you beer is alcohol not a nutrient that’s not an agenda, that’s the truth. American yoga as practice in every gym in the English speaking world is NOT a religion. And there’s no agenda there, and thinking the truth is a nefarious agenda is a sign of serious mental issues.
Why would yoga instructors provide any pointless “consent”? Again it’s the 21st century, everybody in class has a smart phone, they can look up the history on their own. Meanwhile they’re doing exercises NOT worship. Subsequently they treat it the same way as the spin classes and step classes and Zumba and every other EXERCISE class at the gym.
Really “informed consent” would only be necessary for a religion. Because you really can’t worship without knowing what in blazes your worshiping.

There is only one truth, not believing nor believing the wrong thing will save a person. You get option A or B when we leave. You may not believe in God, but he knows you.
It’s sure not cool in this day and age though to be a Christian.
I think what we really need is mullahs in minarets in every city doing the morning call to prayer on loudpeakers. Just to help people wake up in the morning - like an alarm clock - so there’s nothing religious about it at all. (Besides, not that many people understand Arabic anyway.) People gotta have some time to know when to rise and shine, afterall!
Actually it’s an acknowledged and understood term in the exercise community. laughing at that just admitted you have no idea what you’re talking about. most of the yoga moves performed in Western gyms were invented by a Russian woman in Hollywood in the 1940s.
