Comey’s firing is a gift to the FBI
New York Post ^ | 2017-05-13 | Michael Walsh May 13, 2017 | 10:14am | Updated

Let’s cut right to the chase: James Comey should have been fired immediately following his disastrous press briefing last July, in which he candidly laid out the case against Hillary Clinton over her mishandling of classified information and then refused to recommend charges. Overstepping his authority while radiating sanctimony, arrogating power while clumsily intervening in the election, Comey deserved to be sacked on the spot.

Everything since has been one long slow twist in the wind for Comey, a former US attorney in Manhattan, where his most notable accomplishment was sending Martha Stewart to jail.

Ignore for the moment Comey’s series of missteps resulting from the Clinton investigation and his increasingly erratic and unconvincing public fan dance as he sent the nation into electoral paroxysms over the past 10 months.

On his watch, the FBI continued its politically correct, see-no-evil attitude toward radical Islam and thus failed to prevent the atrocity in San Bernardino; it also investigated the Orlando nightclub shooter for 10 months before closing its case, allowing him to kill or wound 102 people. Meanwhile, the federal office of personnel management was hacked by the Chinese, resulting in a serious data breach. That’s failure on an unacceptable level.

Also, .....

(1) Comey used the British spy’s fake dossier.

(2) The FBI funded this garbage with taxpayer money.

(3) Clearly, Trump was a political target of the FBI.

(4) Trump is actually the VICTIM in all these Russian collusion lies.

Comey should have been FIRED long ago.

No, obama would have been able to name Comey’s successor.

Here’s what he said: “Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.”

If you substitute “Obama Justice Dept. lawyer” for “reasonable prosecutor” he was probably spot on.
So now run it by a real prosecutor.

A FReeper laid out the charges in such a galvanizing way yesterday, but he has a hard-to-remember screenname, I wish I’d bumped it to repost it.

This can’t be said often enough, and unfortunately, right-wing media has let us down by allowing the claim that Comey “lost the election” for Hillary to permeate the public consciousness.
He did no such thing.

Had he performed is duty in July, she would have been indicted for (and by now, convicted of) a felony which makes her ineligible to ever hold public office again. Instead, Comey granted blanket immunity to essentially all of her minions, flunkies and stooges, so that there can be no pressure exerted against them. [Although Huma Abedin’s lies about her handling of classified materials probably invalidates any prior deal she’d made.]

In addition to the immunity deals, let’s count the other ways in which this investigation benefitted Hillary, and could only have been conducted by a dirty cop with full knowledge that what he was doing was improper, and in some cases illegal:

He took no action regarding an illegal ex parte communication between the AG and the man who created her government career.
He granted blanket immunity to multiple targets of an investigation in exchange for nothing.
He destroyed evidence provided by those targets.
He permitted the principle target of his investigation to have a lawyer present during a non-sworn interview.
He permitted that representation despite the fact that the attorney was, as a target of the investigation herself, ineligible to represent Clinton.
He permitted interviews at which multiple targets were present together on several occasions; a practice never allowed during ordinary law enforcement procedures.
He made a legal finding regarding the likelihood of successful prosecution without any consultation with the DOJ.
He allowed investigations of the Clintons to be supervised by his deputy, Andrew McCabe, even though McCabe’s wife had received nearly three quarters of a million dollars from Clinton bagman Terry McAuliffe and other Clinton loyalists.
These offenses alone are enough for his removal. There are of course, so many others. Comey was the man who directed the investigation of, and recommended the punishment for, Sandy Berger who was sent into the US National Archives to remove and destroy evidence of the Clintons’ negligent complicity in the 9/11 attacks. Comey was the point man in guaranteeing that the HSBC money laundering case produced a wrist slap and came nowhere near the Clintons. Comey allowed the DOJ case investigating the Clinton Foundation to be operated out of the Eastern District of New York — Loretta Lynch’s power base — instead of the Southern District in Manhattan where it belonged. His deputy, the ubiquitous Mr. McCabe, reprimanded agents when they attempted to get prosecutors in more pertinent jurisdictions to form Grand Juries when those requests were denied in Brooklyn.

The claim that Comey’s “reopening” of Hillary’s email case in late October was the coup de grace that sank her candidacy is also a preposterous fiction. Comey had received word that the NYPD Special Investigations Task Force had found evidence of additional State Department emails on the laptop owned by Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin. He came in to quash that investigation before NYPD revealed anything the Clinton Crime Family couldn’t control. And note, that in the critical 72-hour period before the election, Comey made a public announcement that “there is still nothing to see here, Hillary has been cleared again.” That didn’t hurt her campaign: it reminded people that the FBI had essentially cleared her name, and cast doubt on Comey’s self-serving all-but-intent announcement in July.

James “Jimmy The Weasel” Comey is a dirty cop. There needs to be a special prosecutor — to investigate him, McCabe, and other senior officials at the FBI who allowed this obvious travesty to continue for so long.

I have one quibble with this article-- it's conclusion.

The writer spends a lot of time calling for making the FBI's primary focus domestic intelligence--the role of MI-5 in Britain. But then he calls for a tough cop to be the new director. The two roles are somewhat in tension.

The FBI has a sort of split personality. Counterintelligence is not law enforcement. The point of law enforcement is to investigate crimes and produce evidence allowing prosecutors to do their jobs. But intelligence operations are about gathering information--even if it can't be used in court.

Maybe the FBI should focus on domestic intelligence--and the Marshals Service could go back to being the primary federal law enforcement agency.

The tattoos are all in BLUE ink, referring to the ebbidence Comey used to convict Martha: one entry on a her stock sale list was written with a different pen color (blue), implying it was added after the fact, to create an alibi for her stock trade. Martha makes one slip of the pen and Comey sends her to the Big House. Hillary operates a secret server while selling her office, has it Bit-Bleached, and her IT guy pleads the Fifth, and Comey just can’t see any intent.
